My Mrs just pulled a 12.5 hour day with parent teacher interviews. That’s the shit no-one thinks about for teachers.
My mom, sister and partner are all teachers so I have massive respect for the unpaid work you guys put in

I agree they have some long days and less face it, most of us cant deal with our own kids for more than a couple of hours so having a class full in certainly not an easy job. Here comes the ‘but’. But on balance how many 12 hour days does she do. I work in logisitcs and managers in my industry would work 60+ hours a week regularly, add to that travel, taking calls at night and weekends and when you are on holiday. I don’t think as an average teaching hours are that high.
As I said before though it is certainly not an easy job and not not one I would want to do.

Taking into account lesson planning, Marking, camps etc…way more than I give her credit for lol.

My wife has some long weeks but I kind of view it as a salary position. There are long days but she has Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks plus summers off.
My wife makes more than me by a smidge, but if you view the pay as if it’s for 9.5 months then she’s making the equivalent of $68k a year. She’ll get more this year now that she has her master’s.

Yeah we do a fair bit of extra shit but if your organised it’s not too bad, I’m super organised with everything, 6 years of 3 semester a year uni while working 6 days a week sort of made me be super organised.
Parents are the worst thing, some of them are just plain idiots, and experts in a field they know nothing about.

I’m still alive. My schedule and distance to the gym have reduced my workouts to zero. I do play tennis 5 days a week now. Coaching tennis instead of football this year and my schedule is slammed. I picked up an extra class. I try to limit the time after hours I work but there is still work for free time. I feel for new teachers and the time they have to put in. And I work for great admin

I hope you all are doing well.
I’ve given up the gym membership. Still nursing a right foot that is not well. I can walk without shoes in the morning so that is good.
I’ve been super busy working in the yard and doing all the things that I wanted to be strong enough to do as I got older.
I may return to lifting one day. I met all but my lifetime bench goal for lifting. I’m happy with my results.
I appreciate all the information and shit talking.
