Damn it Officer Maier. I’m at 1215!! You got me by 5lbs because of your ungodly deadlift. 425/315/475. 1200 was the goal when I first started, so I’m happy. Well… I was happy. Now I want 1300 at 210-220. No idea how long that will take, but I feel like I have some untapped potential in my deadlift. I just gotta figure out a rep scheme that works for it. + sets on deadlifts are just so hit or miss, they either feel awesome or awful. The 6x2 program is a peaking kind of program so that can’t be run all the time. Maybe 10x3 will work for me? I don’t know. Time to experiment after this cut I guess

Pick a meet. Compete in the open division. Build on that total.

Now I want to test my total. I know I’m good for 475 on deadlift, and I’m guessing 425 on squat, based on where I am now compared to last year when I hit that, but bench I can probably only get a little over 225… Maybe 245 but even that might be a stretch. My only consolation is that I don’t weigh as much as you guys, but since I’m going for absolute instead of relative strength that’s not much consolation.

I do have you beat on OHP though, Hog. I can hit 200 strict. :smile:

I pulled 495 last June and then backed off due to my hip. I don’t even think I could get 450 going into surgery. I ran CT’s program with very conservative numbers as soon as I was released to train like normal. I wanted to get back to at least 450 with that first round of SGSS and I hit 545. I think I did quite well with that rep scheme. Just saying :wink:

You set some goals like a year ago and you’ve hit two of them. You’re cruising along nicely. If I add in my OHP then I’m at 1385. I failed to get 170 when I maxed in June but I hit 165 x 3 when I ran B4B.

@OTHSteve, your numbers remind us all that there’s no rhyme or reason to this weight lifting stuff. Your squat is 50+ lbs ahead of my best and my deadlift is 70 lbs ahead of yours. I’m guessing I’m the oddball since I can deadlift 175 lbs more than I squat. :joy::joy:

That’s true. You’ve mentioned that every single time I’ve complained/wondered about my current program or what I’m going to run in the future, and I know I’m going to run it, so I don’t know why I keep talking about it!! That’s a massive PR. If I can add 50lbs to my lifetime deadlift PR, I will be the strongest person I know. For a little while I guess.

@losthog I agree with Maier. You set goals and then crush them. Because it’s not like you set your goal to deadlift 315 and then you deadlifted 320… You murdered your goals harder than any lifter I’ve ever talked to (besides me when I first started heh heh) in a very short amount of time. So even to say that you’re “cruising” might be a bit of an understatement!!

Hey, you’re the one who’s talking about not knowing which program or rep scheme would help your deadlift and I have tons of posts giving you the answer!

I agree that PR sets have been less than stellar for improving my deads. I’ve done better with CT’s double progression than hitting 15 reps with 3 plates on 5/3/1.

Still enjoying the deload. Cut back on the calories yesterday and debloated I like it… I’ll hit bench and deadlift on Saturday

Deload done. I’ll hit it again on Tuesday and I’m ready for some big weight. I sort of just felt out the training maxes for this cycle to see if the next cycle was too big a reach.

I started this 531 cycle with my max numbers from the Darkhorse. Then I added 10/20 to the upper/lower training maxes and ran the next 3 weeks with some volume sets. Deload.

Next three weeks I added 20/40 to the training maxes of the second 3 weeks putting my training maxes on my maxes of the first 3 weeks. Gonna be a grind. I’m ready. 315 bench is getting closer.

Thinking of running death bench after football season the second week of Nov until it’s done…

I had it on another day and the guy spotting me got scared and grabbed the bar. I didn’t want that shit happening again. I told him “you will know without a doubt if I need help”

I think if you deload correctly then you could hit a PR right after the down week.

I always tell people spotting me on bench not to touch the bar unless it is on my neck or I use this exact phrase: “Hey I need help”. Some people still dont understand. When I was doing pause bench a few weeks ago I still had some guy freak out when I had it paused on my chest even tho I told him I was gonna be pausing it.

10/02/18– back from deload OHP with prs

This begins my anchor of this 531 cycle and it will be heavy. My last sets are pushed up into the 80-90% range purposefully. I hope to trash the muscles and cns and find the limits of training again this cycle. Then after this cycle I will deload again and start something new. My son wants to run somolov I’m not sure I’m willing. :joy:
