X16 x5

SS
Banded vhandle cable row w green band/ chins

110x8/ 6(assisted)
140x8/ 3
160x8/ 3

Chins moving the wrong way. I’m losing reps in the pull-up and chin up department. Could be that the holidays were a little too good to me.

Bench work (rehab)
45x20
55x20
95x20

115x10 (most since)
135x10 (most since)

Felt awesome no pain pops or anything indicating a problem in the shoulder. So in true meat head fashion I put 155 on the bar. I waited for my set and when the time came I decided to wait on the weight. I’ll get it next time I’m in the gym. Today was a good press day without isssue. I’ll hit the bigger stuff soon. For now I’m still holding back. The chest feels strong :muscle:

Reflections and plans to move foward 2018.

Maybe it’s too soon to post this but it’s relevant to me now. So here it is.

In 2018 I’ve run starting strength, 531, hypertrophy blocks, the Darkhorse, Ben pollack Powerbuilding, Deathbench (should be named death to my bench), and I’m currently running a 12 weeks to Wheels and back blaster.

I’ve learned a ton about holding back and not going balls out every week. I’ve made solid gains and hit a wall where my form was not up to snuff to keep progressing so I dialed it in (one of the best moves I’ve ever made). Deathbench taught me volume kills. And the current routine is teaching me what recovering workout to workout feels like

Moving foward I’m really leaning toward a Darkhorse/ westside style training. Where I use ME and dynamic work. I like changing up the lifts and hitting new numbers.

I’ve learned that building my squat and back will bring my deadlift along for the ride. Squat is the most important lift…it builds everything.

I’ll train 4 days a week. I’m thinking doing 2 ME days focusing on squat mainly and DE work will be chains or bands 50-80% maybe waving with rep reductions.

Accessories will be light and weakness focused to improve the main lifts. I may just find a grove with this and stick with it the entire next year just to test it out over the years time.

I believe in PRILEPIN’S reps per training sessions and will be keeping this in mind moving foward. I need to find a book by this guy and read deeper into his work

Not sure how the training will flesh out. But this is the way I’m leaning now. I like rehab work to keep things in check.

So we traveled 1.5 hours to where my brother lives to try out this gym. What an amazing place. The owner is an ex nationally competitive bodybuilder and his gym had toys upon toys. A big area for prowler/ strongman. A power corner. A damn amazing place. I wish I lived closer that would be my home.

I taught my brother to box squat today. He enjoyed the day then we hit up a mom and pop authentic Italian restaurant for the refeed.

Nice day I can barely walk.

Dude…that’s insane. 40 reps at 285 will definitely make your legs grow, especially if it’s all under 10 minutes!

It’s rough. The set last 12-15min depending on how fast the sets are performed and how close to puking I am in the last few sets. This week was rather nice. The puke warning indicator didn’t start until set 7 or 8.

This leg program is a beast in an oh so good way.

I really can’t embrace the puke. I don’t like the feeling and I really don’t have the desire to push through once it arrives. The puke pretty much shuts me down. I guess some people enjoy the suffering and use that as motivation but I can’t do that.

I also struggle to repeat a workout that induces nausea. It’s really hard to get myself motivated to do the work if I know it’s going to result in that particular feeling.

Kudos to you for being able to accept it and keep going!

I’m no fan of workout induced nausea but I find once I settle it back down I can really crush my next set, like an adrenaline spike or something. I try to avoid it of course because it’s super unpleasant, but I’ll make the most of it when it comes around.

I’m no fan of puke. But riding the edge is where gains can be made. It’s not the weightor sets but the rest time and lack of conditioning creating the experience. All good.

@Frank_C dude I’m nowhere near as badass as you are but I appreciate the compliment

Power + Conditioning + Squats in one shot.

Lactic acid and tons of reps for growth and practice.

Plus you get all sweaty. I love that lifting style.

My experience must be different. Once it sets in I’m done for about 15 minutes. I just sit and wait for it to subside. It usually goes away when I burp a few times and the stomach acid settles down.

I’ve never had that “pleasure” maybe I should push harder.
