Its true that Arnold never did have a great rep to begin with. But growing up with my dad telling me I should be like him… being a californian… getting motivated to work out because of him… it just seems like i trusted that he was a good guy. it’s just a feeling of betrayal.
We can speculate about his motivations all day long but in the end he was a liar to his family, californians, and i feel to us as trainees.

Arnold ran California for 8 years, and look how that ended up.
Tirib is right, he has been a whorebag for years, and Maria feels stupid because time and time again, people were telling her that. But, being a good woman and wife, she would stand up for her man. But finally, the housekeeper got fired and threatened to go public with the affair and love child. Arnie gets busted, end of story.
The aftermath of what Arnold did (as far as the state of California goes) is what also is pissing people off. Because of his stupidity, we have serious money issues here. Our current governor now is considering passing a tax increase and extension without a public vote, and then asking voters to vote on it later. When would we the taxpayers vote on this tax increase/extension? No idea. There is no mention of when it would happen, which means never.
Imagine that, having taxpayers not allowed to have a voice on whether their taxes are raised or not. So much for taxation without representation.
Thankfully in Washington this year we DID get to vote on our taxes and struck down the creation of an income tax (we’re a lucky state that doesn’t have one).
I do agree with everyone posting who isn’t surprised about whats happened. I’m not either. The difference is i’m not apathetic about it. whether or not arnold was ever a moral person doesn’t justify acting immorally. thats all.
the other part of it is that he has represented bodybuilding to the general public for a long time. now people will really believe that bodybuilding is synonymous with narcissism, egotism, and immorality. its just disappointing rather than shocking or appalling.
