Lose Belly Fat Without Feeling Like Shit?

everytime i consume less calories than i burn, i feel like shit. tired, and it affects my training in a bad way too. any way to get around this problem?

Eat more calories…you need to figure out how much exactly you need to eat…and how much you need to burn in order to loose body fat. If you do it too drastic this is what happens.

I completely agree. Take the time to rev up you metabolism by ramping up your cals for a month or two (depending on how severe you cut). Then if need be cut done 10% cals or 250. Whichever is lower. Then after a week or two re-evaluate your progress. It’s tedious but once you get that out of the way there’s never anymore guess work and gains and losses can be made easy with energy in and out of the gym

I work out 3-4 times a week and consume 2500 cals. I lost until I got to 161 lb at 5’10" (I know Im light but look big…) anyway Im upping my cals starting today to 2750 to see how my weight fluctuates. Im going to monitor this calorie intake until the end of the month to see if I gain or maintain.

Like everyone said, figure out exactly how many calories you need, then play with it.

I think some of the battle is being mentally used to getting hungry and whatever else. Another thing that works for me is changing what I eat and when I eat. You can cut down on calories and still not be weak and hungry all the time: Eat less, more often. Have some snacks that won’t fuck up your diet. Don’t starve yourself for hours and then start craving brownies. Make sure you’re eating often, not a lot, and foods that’ll satisfy.

We don’t even know how much less you’re eating. Is it 100 calories less, or 1,000? Your food choices may be inappropriate too.

Do energy systems work instead of diet? I prefer hard work over starvation personally.

Read the articles under nutrition. There is much more to losing fat than just eating less.

^yep.

i was lean but found my gut protrusion untenable. i vowed to lose it (but did not want to go into calorie deficit) so for a year i ate nothing that wasn’t in bowden’s “150 healthiest foods” which basically means all my carbs came from veggies, fruits, legumes, nuts, grass-fed-raw dairy products. none from processed carbs.

also check out omnivore’s dilemma or Pollan’s new book of rules eg. if it comes through your car window it ain’t food. you can do slams, but the long haul requires more brains than will power.

I’m curious about this particular situation you spoke of. Let me get this straight, you were lean to the point where your abs were entirely visible, but they still protuded like a gut?

What’s the cause of this?

i second this.

next time i plan to lean out this is going to be my first place to go. i like food too much to drop it right away.
