Look Strong, Be Strong

First time. I’ll probably stick to training vids from now on.

Actually, I had plans to vid my last squat session (which would have been my first vid ever) but it was a Saturday afternoon and the place was just too busy.

I found that the first time I taped any lifts in the gym I felt like a weird poser. I got over it pretty quickly.

Good to see another good looking bald man like myself around here. I still have the goatee with some white in it. I’ll look like Santa in a few more years.

I felt like an utter tool doing the first vid, then I got over it.

I have to admit the poser / tool force was strong. Plus my squats were sucking that day so i was distracted enough without worrying if some gym monkey was going to knock over my camera.

Maybe this week.

I hadn’t filmed myself in over 20 years of training and certainly hadn’t posted anything on the interweb. But now I film myself fairly often, I find it tightens up my form and is almost worth another rep per set to me, its as if you are training infront of an audience you want to impress. I find it a valuable tool, I don’t see it as showing off at all.

Cycle 5, Week 1
I’m skipping the deload week. I’m impatient. We will see what happens.
PITFF = 7…a bit tired after a long Halloween weekend. Plus OHP doesn’t put fear in me like squats or deads.
Weight = 193…this needs to start moving. Left over chocolate bars may be the answer.

OHP
95 x 5
115 x 5
135 x 6…was supposed to use 130 but I figured what the heck
115 x 10, 8

Machine Incline press
4 x 6-10

Seated DB press, verical back…just working the bottom half of movement where I am weakest
3 x 10-15

Cable External rotations
3 x 8

I need to eat more.

edit: I also had a nice chat with a woman about her impending boob job. She is nervous about the attention she will get as she is currently less than an A cup. I can’t wait to talk to her while staring directly at her new bewbs.

How tall are you git? I’ve got 20#s on you, but you’ve got me on every lift.

too bad that 20#s is all on my belly…

There are probably some biomechanics at play depending on limb length and what not. I have fairly long arms which hurts my pressing numbers and likely helps in the DL.

I check out your log often. You are doing awesome. But…I’m not going to let you catch me

Nothing wrong with being 5’9" says the guy who is also 5’9"!! Good work going on in here…Nice looking family BTW.

Right-on my mid-sized brother!

And thanks.

Cycle 5, Wk 1
PITFF = 7 (crappy sleep) until DL money set then 8.5
Deads (sumo)
275 x 5
315 x 5
365 x 10…beats 365 x 9 conventional. Tough set though. Had to take a couple of breaths for the last couple of reps. My GPP needs work. Minimal low back stress.

I liked the article by John Meadows on back work so i tried a couple things.

1 arm T-bar rows…not bad. Had trouble finding the groove but will use again and see what happens.
3 x 10

“Stretchers” - basically standing close grip pulldowns with a stretch. Really felt it in the lats.
3 x 10-12

You need to get some vids up of your lifts. You’re holding out on us.

I actually had my camera with me but forgot all about it until I was done. Eventually I will get my act together.

I’m also looking forward to my Titan lever belt arriving soon. I’ve been using some narrow, skinny, floppy piece of crap that I’ve had for 20 years.

I even have some cheater knee wraps coming…oooh gearwhore!

Get over yourself and video, you cutie, you.

Video is great for entertaining us and keeping you honest.

That is some nice pulling. Great job.

Which wraps did you decide on?

Also, video please. Like Kimba said, we need to be entertained.
