Gents, thank you very much for your posts. Flatsfarmer, thank you for taking the time to give me such a helpful pointer, with a lift I’ve struggled so badly with.
Unfortunately at the moment I have no access to a gym, with that likely to be the case for the foreseeable future. I do have rings, a pullup bar, and access to the Gymnastic Bodies foundation course, which is what I have been doing for the past few weeks. It’s extremely frustrating to have had to cut off Alpha’s training program, after I’d made so much progress with it and received so much help and good advice.
Life circumstances have intervened somewhat however. I have left the army reserve due to (I believe) repeated incompetence on their part. I have made a great deal of time available to them, only to find myself being forced to miss scheduled training through the unit’s failure to issue kit, issue correct kit, provide me with correct dates, etc etc. I’ve been at sea, away from an internet connection, for the past few weeks, so I apologise for failing to address these kind comments earlier. I’m not sure whether I’ll be logging my current training here, as my time is now more limited, and firing up the computer, logging on, and maintaining a log has been surprisingly time consuming. I will still be around and posting in the combat section.
Damn,
What the hell? Reserves are that fucked, glad you got out. Anyway, glad you weren’t gored by a goat. Go back over to the Combat Forum and give Steven some advise, he is starting boxing with a future toward MMA. Also, I posted a knife attack, watch it and give me your opinion.

Ye, it breaks my heart really. I was going down the int. analyst route, and had nailed all the aptitude testing, but over a year in I’d still got nowhere with the basic training, due to administrative failings at the unit, lack of a trained (and therefore authorised to request kit) CQMS, etc. On top of that, they were in the process of changing the int training course for reserves, to make it a year long process, which would have set me back at least another 18 months before I could get down to anything useful.
As far as the goat is concerned, I’ve spent a decent amount of time in Wales, where they are experts at antagonising the local fauna without getting anything worse than a groin strain, or something a few antibiotics wouldn’t clear, so I’ve picked up a few tricks through observation. Somewhat similar I imagine to your Afghan experiences with the locals there and their amorous bestial trysts.
