This would have been the perfect opportunity to showcase british local beers and wines to the world - actually generate some new international business to help get us out of this recession.
but no, Heineken - one of the blandest beers ever - paid a couple of million and now no other beer is allowed on site.

fuck LOCOG, fuck this Governement
Couldnt agree more. You would think they would use this as a opportunity to grow the local economy instead allowing giant corporations to essentially monopolize the market.
Although i dont mind heineken, i would drink it, but wouldnt buy it myself.

I read somewhere that Europeans are following suit with America’s macrobrew popularity… with more and more Europeans opting for a Budweiser rather than a [better] local brew. Anheuser-Busch inBev will own us all one day - they already own something crazy like 80-90% of the beer market in the USA.
A ton of awesome beer styles (Pale ales, IPA’s, Nut browns, bitters, milds, porters, etc) all originated in England… it would be a damn shame if England got taken over by Anheuser-Busch.

Which session did you get?
Mens 77kg and womens 69kg (all in same session)
Lucky bastard. The 77s should be one of the better weight classes and you’re almost guaranteed to see at least 2-3 cracks at the clean and jerk world record.

really? i didnt know that as i wanted to see heavier weight classes. Either way though im looking forward to going to it.
Yeah really. Three lifters all took a crack at the clean and jerk world record in the 77s at worlds last year. Two of them cleaned it and narrowly missed the jerk. Couple of freaks in that class, you should enjoy it.
I really wish I was going, but didn’t have anywhere near the cash when the lottery began. From start to finish the whole thing has screamed not caring about the actual people of Britain. As an aside: Our “mascots” and “logo” suck hard. I anticipate our opening ceremony to be 1/100th as good as Beijing’s.

I certainly hope so. The stars seem to be aligned for it to happen.
