Gutted it is with Top Rank. Otherwise though, this is one of the most exciting things to have happened in boxing in a long time. Talk of him being world champ in 3 fights seems pretty crazy (but not impossible), given the legitimate talent at 126lbs. Still, Lomachenko is the real deal, and there could be some incredible fights on their way in the next year or so. If he can make it up to lightweight down the road, then we could be in for some real fun.
I just saw something about this guy. Not doubting his prowess, but even the best amateurs have to adjust to the pro style of having no headgear and the different scoring system.
3 fights is ridiculous indeed. Good for the sport though, I agree. Good young star.
Potentially a repeat of the Rigondeaux rise.
Good fighter- and the WSB may have helped hijm brdige the gap.
Very talented fighter but 3 fights is ridiculous for sure. Granted his experience in the WSB helps bridge the gap a fair bit I think, but even the best fighters all had managers who slowly stepped them up in experience.
If it does go that way I dont expect him to be champion for long.
Rigondeaux is a little bit of a different story, 300+ fights is a bit of a game changer, theres not much you can do to a guy who has been fighting that long that he won’t have already seen, if not in the ring then certainly in the many gyms of his homeland.

For what it’s worth, Lomachenko has had 330 something fights, and only lost one, and even that was contentious. I think 3 fights is crazy, but if any fighter of the past couple of decades was going to do it, I reckon it is him. It also helps that he is fighting in the lighter divisions, where I believe there will probably be greater similarities to amateur style bouts (such as focus on speed). I’m not surprised he’s stepped back down in weight for his debut, for that reason.
