Do you always lockout Overhead/Flat/Incline Presses? Does it depend on how heavy you are going? By lockout I mean the final ~1/6 portion of the rep. I’m asking mainly in relation to long term shoulder and A.C. joint health. Vets. opinion appreciated.
I’m recovering from a.c. joint irritation and have started doing presses again. I’m noticing the lockout portion of the rep is pretty much only where I can feel the injury now.
Even before various incurring a few injuries I never lccked out. The reasoning is that in doing so you essentially transfer the stress from your intended target muscle to either secondary muscles or to your actual skeletal structure.
