LL,
I recently had surgery to complete repairs for a broken left ankle.
From your perspective, are there any must have supps or foods that will speed recovery?

i also have similar problem, but not as serious as you, i don’t need surgery. but i still feel weak after i’m on the cast for 1.5 mth. i also want to know what should i take to speed up the recovery process and help my ankle back to normal sooner.
Atreides,
(I still think that’s a great name…)
Perhaps 10% extra kcal and protein, and perhaps a multi vitamin/ mineral would help many persons with skeletal trauma or post-orthopaedic surgery.

Above all, make sure that you’re training the uninjured limb. You’ll get important CNS-related strength carryover to the injured leg, and it’ll make your rehab go much more smoothly.
Ok, so I want to clarify something for my own health/well being.
I have a broken right ankle. Once I can put more weight on it (aka walk sans crutches) should I start doing one-legged squats/extentions/curls, on the UNINJURED leg?
Actually, I can probably do the last 2 with the cast on…?
Any help would rock guys, I wanna get myself healed and back at the squat rack and deadlift platform!
I just had ankle surgery a few months ago and I started with the one-legged stuff about a week after, even still in the cast. I used some machines, which I know are usually crap, but can be good if you are on crutches…one legged leg press, extensions, etc. Then once I could put some weight on it I did one-legged squats, but holding onto a bar for support. (You don’t want to fall on your bad ankle for sure.) Also do upper body and abs…hey the cast is like added weight for pullups!! ![]()
Good luck!
