Tuna and questions --what a guy!
At one time LL you were thinking about writing an article on how to make sense out of research reports – still have plans on that?
Hey Lonnie,
Don’t know if you’ve been asked this recently, but what are your thoughts on CKD’s (e.g., Bodyopus, Anabolic Diet,) as a long-term approach? Any glaring problems you see?
In your experience, what types of guys do better with this approach…what kinds of things would you look for in determining who would have success with a Carb-Cycling approach?
Thanks a lot,
Ramo
Good timing! I have had to re-structure my day around my work schedule, and my eating habits to boot.
I was wondering if you have any tips on meal timing and content for hitting a good mid day workout. The whole change from working all day and then lifting in the evening has thrown me for a real loop.
firebug,
Yes, I do, but there are other articles in queue. Plus, the topic is so broad that I have at least six weeks of material devoted to it, so it’ll have to be come multiple topics, probably in a series.
I’m sorry I can’t give a time frame but I will pursue it.
Ramo,
I think my biggest critique would be the compliance issues and suffering endured during the days of carb elimination. That decreases overall quality of life, when we’re talking long term. And to me, for all its value as a physique tool, food should remain one of life’s simple pleasures when we look over many months or years.
mindeffer01,
Well, I can’t promise to be here every Friday at lunch time but I am curious about the turnout.
You know, I don’t have a strictly 9-5 job either and have lifted about midday for years. I think it’s the single best time: we’re fully awake and strong but not yet burnt from a day’s work.
One timing issue I like is that I can get a little wired with some real java beforehand and not have to worry about it keeping me up 'til 1:00 AM.

What are your thoughts on cheat and/or overfeed meals, and what parameters would you follow for relatively lean <10%bf individuals?
I should mention that I eat relatively low-carb (a la Berardi’s No-Nonsense Nutrition) getting most of my carbs from fruits/veggies/Surge.
Do you have any ideas for pranks at Staley’s boot camp? I was thinking something like bolting / supergluing / otherwise permanently securing an olympic bar to the floor such that Charles couldn’t get it off the ground. Either that, or when he starts talking, everyone pulls up a newspaper or just gets up and leaves.
(Why do I like to mess with people so much?)
Bastard!
RIT Jared,
I think that a single cheat meal is better for psychological compliance than for something like thyroid (T3) restoration or filling out glycogen stores (which takes days).
This is why I like more controlled days of expanded carb intake during 1/2 to 1 week of no training. This can be done for each 2 months or so spent busting one’s butt in the gym.
Okay, final post. I have a pre-surgical (ankle) apt. that I forgot.
BFG,
Dude. Charles or his coworkers might see this thread, you know. Maybe we can PM this one if you have even more sinister ideas!
