Little Experiment: EQ and Mast

K boys and girls… a little update… just related to
my life… not “the experiment”

I’ve been sick for the past two weeks… thus I’m still gainless (lost SO much muscle mass in Europe)… interestingly my strength has been reasonably retained

However something happened…

So a wall of death forms, one guy goes in, another guy charges, picks the guy up and drops him violently onto the ground… it was pretty rad… So another person runs in… and another… and another… so now there’s like four people wildly swinging at one another and I decide “well, I want to go in” as I’m a fairly wild character at these festivals, especially during metal concerts. Keep in mind I’m actually 100% sober during this, I had to drive home thus indulging in any kind of vice was completely out of the question… I won’t endanger others on the road…

Anyhow I run in and ram myself into this one guy as hard as I can, he drops forward… another guy takes me and yanks my arm and… shit… my shoulder pops out, I feel a sudden wave of excruciating pain… the arm gets yanked again, the shoulder pops back in… but it feels like it’s caught on something… que me leaving early instead of hitting a club with friends (yes, I can go clubbing sober… I love dancing, so its always fun)… This has happened once before, in around the tenth grade (with the same shoulder, the shoulder afflicted is the left one with the inherent lack of muscle mass comparative to the right, the structural defect etc). Last time this happened it didn’t heal for a solid eleven months

Now, It’s become obvious given that presses with 5lb dumbbells etc hurt… that my ability to exercise will be substantially impaired for a very long time… unless… I can’t find something that’ll heal it quickly (but my body isn’t great at… healing… its a decrepit shitty 85 y/o man body when it comes to musculoskeletal, tendon and joint ailment.) I can’t afford to lose even more muscle mass… The more muscle mass I lose (and I’ve noticed this during my extreme chronic pain stage, while in Europe etc) the more generalised pain I’m in as the excess mass keeps joints/connective tissue stabilised/from sublaxing

Gym has had the biggest impact regarding overall pain managment… it’s the reason I was able to get off painkillers entirely

So this begs the question, has anyone taken anything (aside from AAS) that dramatically increases the rate in which injuries heal? @studhammer @zeek1414 @Singhbuilder @iron_yuppie @dextermorgan @whoever else

There are two goals I have here

  • gain back muscle mass lost (will be very difficult when I can’t exercise adequately)
  • get patched up as quickly as possible

This is quite the situation, the severity of the injury is unknown, will see how it feels in the flowing days, but comparative to when I had this exact injury before… took about 10 months to feel better, and even then the shoulder was never the same…

It’s a conundrum I’m in, I’m willing to indulge in modestly self destructive behaviour at this point, it beats going back on pain medication full time, going for medicinal marijuana etc… Society will say “no, take the pain medication”… I feel as if I’ve lived in a society wherein the medical community has failed me

  • took over a year to get hypogonadism taken care of, even then… the knowledge harboured by all medical professionals I’ve been to regarding endocrine pathology is woefully inadequate
  • Had to live in crippling pain for around 3 + years before it was adequately taken care of (was only given adequate pain management after starting TRT)
  • Was given anastrozole at 7mg weekly for many years, caused many of my issues today… was given for idiopathic short stature as they’d refused to give me GH on the basis of “well you’re probably producing growth hormone because you aren’t below like 4’11”… ended up slightly below 5’5
  • Given SSRI’s (very heavy dosages) in response to reactive depression stemming from chronic pain… whenever I’m upset antidepressants always appear to be the answer…

I can list more examples… yes, there are people far worse off, but if I allow myself to continually lose more lean mass, i’ll be back to square one… and that (literally) wasn’t a life worth living (to me)

I’d rather guinea pig myself than live a life of round the clock pain management involving escalating dosages as tolerance builds… then risk getting cut off randomly and turning to the street (as this has been happening to many pain patents post opiate crisis)

I’m seeing a doctor on Monday, I’m sure it’ll be referral after referral, scans… then a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon, more pain medication and cortisone shots… perhaps surgery

Perhaps my situation isn’t as bad as I fear… but given my track record and predisposition for bad luck… and the fact that this exact situation occurred a few years pack (not from concerts though) I fear I’m out of the game for a long time… and somehow I need to speed up recovery and/or avoid further deterioration (as deterioration = further chronic pain)

I am currently on around 100-120mg deca weekly… nandrolone, 75-100mg mast weekly… appears to be implicated within enhancing healing rates regarding rotator cuff injuries… Not using any test, haven’t for about three weeks (feel fine… great actually), though I need to start using a bit of test again given the neuroprotective, cardioprotective aspect of adequate aromatisation

Does anyone have any on hands experience with like… tb-500 or bpc 157 for healing injuries

At least you dropped the one guy first so it’s not a total loss. I boxed golden glove when I was young and there no better feeling than that. I’ve seen several promising threads with folks using bpc-157 and having spectacular results. I don’t have enough knowledge on the subject to really bring anything helpful but from what I’ve seen that and maybe GH would be a possible answer.

Everyone drops everyone in these things lol. Then you help with other back up, look up “wall of death”… you’re not supposed to punch/kick, but you’ve always got one or two drunken assholes that take it waaay to far, you’ll find the crowd turns on them quickly though

The notion of npc157/tb500 being self destrictive behavior (to me) stems from the fact that we lack long term, rigorous trialling on the substances, thus I’m the rodent hehe

I’ve used tb500 before, but I wasn’t injured at the time

GH is expensive, though I wouldn’t be surprised if I was somewhat GH deficient… my short stature, despite my family not being on the tall side… is rather unique in that I’m shorter than ALL of the male members in my family, and not just by a small amount either

Grandfathers were

  • 5’6
  • 6’1

Father is 5’7-5’8
Mother was 5’5 (now 5’4)

Twin Brother is 5’10+
Other male (blood relatives) family members range from 5’8-6’0

I never grew another centimetre after the age of 16

I used BPC 157 POST RC surgery and it helped a lot.

Now, @unreal24278, if you’re shoulder became dislocated, then you have torn or at least damaged tendons and ligaments. I’ve had 3 surgeries, and despite what anybody may say: TORN TENDONS DO NOT HEAL THEMSELVES. It has to be cut and reattached to be restored.

Please go see and good sports oriented ortho surgeon who’s desire it to get you back to the gym. And your PT is even more critical in getting you back to gym shape.

I don’t think the shoulder was dislocated… sublaxed is more likely… it hurts… still, and will probably for about a month… I saw a doc, he gave me an overview/ took me through some ROM style movements, doesn’t believe anything is torn (TBH I don’t think it is either, I have full ROM/strength, just pain) I think I strained some tendons/ligaments

The injury thankfully doesn’t appear to be as severe comparative to the last time this happened.

I’m not doing any bench press/pressing exercises (obviously), but I’m still running, doing whatever I can… it’s important to stay in shape

Its impossible to detect soft tissue damage without an MRI. Get a better doc

This sounds like a separated shoulder or a dislocation.

I’d actually say you might be right, but the level of pain currently is NOTHING compared to when the shoulder popped out/for the hours ensuing…

The thing is though, I can pop the shoulder out on command, have always been able to… it’s uncomfortable when I do it… but the difference this time is it was done in a manner that was very forceful, hence the pain

This is not a good thing little brother. It implies damaged tissue.

Not particularly, in my case it implies a connective tissue disorder (which I have)… BJHMS, so my joints are prone to sublaxation, that being said I’ll see what I can do… today the pain has been minimal… but I’m on deca (100mg weekly)… and I attribute my lack off pain entirely to that… its pretty great

Is there damaged tissue? Almost certainly, ultrasound from earlier indicated chronic subacromial bursitis… had to get a cortisone shot… people with BJHMS tend to have very accelerated joint wear/tear, hence why I’ve always joked about being decrepit in my 30’s… because there’s a very good chance I will be

In my personal experience, I managed day to day for well over a year with a torn RC cuff when it first happened. The pain was not bad but strength in certain movements was gone due to structural integrity being lost. However, when I finally went to the doc, my shoulder had atrophied severely around the joint and since nature abhors a vacuum, it filled the loss with fat. My MRI looked like a Christmas ham! LOL

I do wish to take you’re advice, but the constant doctors visits… MRI etc, the cost racks up… not to say my parents can’t afford it… but there will be complaints from my father… I’m going to wait this one out for a bit, see what happens… I’ve never had an MRI of my shoulder… fatty infiltration would be a particularly bad outcome, some data indicates nandrolone inhibits fatty infiltration from occurring (forgot the exact mechanism) in relation to RC tears… I don’t think I have an outright tear though, strength in pressing movements has been adequate for the past year for so, I’ll check tomorrow… granted I’ve had pain with pressing movements, I wouldn’t be surprised if significant ailment does exist… it’s just hard to convince others, the notion of “you’re young, thus you’re healthy from a musculoskeletal perspective” exists…

However I do believe I’d have weakness overhead/when raising my arm to the side… which I don’t have… granted some people can be relatively asymptomatic following partial tears

I find the shoulder frequently twitches, muscle spasm in rapid fashion

Lateral raises, things like putting a belt on, reaching over your head, etc and things affected

Reaching overhead induces minor, but perceivable pain, has for a while if I really reach… was far worse before cortisone shot/deca (bursitis) lateral raise strength isn’t particularly affected, can do them with 20lb dumbbells (did that today just too see). There’s a persistent dull ache at times though, I don’t know whether anything is torn per se… but there’s def some form of tendon/connective tissue injury

can still do dips without any issue, same with flies… the more I think about it the more I doubt anything is fully torn, however I need to give it rest/ice…

This is very likely masking the pain. While an MRI is expensive, its the best way to see the whole joint and any damage.

You’re right… I’ll see what I can do tomorrow… there’s always the aspect of denial present, particularly when injured like this at such an unfortunate time

Granted I probably won’t stop exercising, I tend to be impulsive, and I enjoy what I do… that being said I will get the shoulder joint checked out (if I can)… unfortunately many a times doctors won’t order something like an MRI until symptomatology is absolutely awful

I agree, hence my “better doc” comment. You can always ask. They run about $1000 (in the US) and require pre-approval from insurance.

I’ll certainly see what I can do… If not, I’m sure I’ll eventually be able to get an MRI when it becomes unbearable (say in many months from now…)… or perhaps I’ll be lucky, minimal damage will have occurred.

But given the fact prior to my cortisone shot/implimentation of deca I hadn’t been able to bench press for a solid ten months that probably won’t be the case (though I could do dips, lat raises, push press etc) this my shoulder/chest development was adequate

Even when I bench now, there’s a nagging pain that will occur lasting 2-3 days afterwards… in both shoulders

Keep me posted

Interstingly at the moment the pain has almost entirely dissipated… the last time this injury happened (was severely hypogonadal, had very little muscle mass/joint stability at the time) it lasted 11 months (and the shoulder had never been entirely the same)…

Should be noted subluxations (partial dislocations) are common amongst those with BJHMS… they tend to recover far quicker when compared to a full dislocation

Perhaps I’m incredibly lucky and should learn a lesson… don’t go into potentially dangerous mosh pits/put myself purposefully in danger again? We will see… I’m preying to whatever omnipresent force that may exist that I’ll be alright, won’t have to follow this up etc… I’d say it’s 40/60 (40 percent chance I’m off the hook)… but that just an arbitrary number

We won’t really know until the cortisone shot entirely wears off and I have to stop using deca for bloods (reduces overall pain in so much more than just my shoulder…)
