Top teams play around 60 games a season. American football teams play…16?

I can’t bear witnessing such manliness of slacking for six months.
Hey man serious question for you.

Which is more intense? Powerlifting/Strongman or Marathon running/circuit training?
Each NFL squad has 50-55 players. 11 on the pitch, unlimited amount of substitutions.
The game lasts 60 minutes (excluding stoppage time) and there are constant breaks.

Rugby is much more intense and European teams play 26-40 games a season (European competition, etc.).

What now?
Now hold on if you saw back a few posts I stated I played both types of Football for many, many years. I am not hating on either one. My statement is about the “Spirit” of the difference.

American Football is more like PL or strongman, BIG lifts for a short rep, while “Soccer” is more of that circuit training type.

I loved Playing both, really enjoyed playing soccer, but I cant stand to watch it on TV. To me the “action” is to slow, its just different tastes.

So have you played American football? Cause take my word for it, the collisions and exertion required on every play is WAY different than what you see on TV.

YOU’RE YOUR PROBLEM. You’re not as good as you think you are and instead of manning up and pulling your head out of your ass you blame others for your lack of success. If you were as good as you think you are you’d be getting playing time. IT’S THAT SIMPLE. you know how I know this? 'Cause I went through a similar situation with basketball. I was always faster and could out jump everyone.

Dropped out of high school early, blew off several juco and small school shots strictly because I didn’t want to work and took the easy way out. Now I’m 29, have 2 major knee injuries under my belt and look back wondering “what if?” If you really want to make this work, pull your head out of your ass, shut the fuck up, bust your ass and do what your coaches ask and things will work themselves out.

If you have the talent and skill, it’ll show. If you don’t, at least you’ll know you gave it your best. Trust me, settling and regret are THE two worst things you can have in life. It’s your choice if you want 'em or not.
I hate when someone comes along and derails a thread like this.
I know right? Start a different thread instead of trying to change the subject.

We are having a serious discussion here.

What a genius theory you have here:

Play soccer= Have xxxxs dick and might as well jerk off for the rest of your life because you wont satisfy any women.

Looks accurate to me.
Of course it is

Most of it’s fans come from the working classes.

The difference is they form part of a mob which is truly more powerful than the individual.

So in that case the comparison is invalid.
It’s not just the working classes that are rough and tough. I’d be willing to walk into ANY bar ANY where in the world with my rugby team and yell at the top of my lungs that, “soccer (football) is gay”. 90% of them played in college and are professional. I PROMISE you that we’d be the ones walking out just fine…
Yeah so you’ve already said

I’m not implying that the working classes are tougher than most. Not by any means. They are however more likely to resort to rough and tumble than others. My point was more the fact that people become braver in a mob situation therefore you cant say a fan is more tough than a player.
x2 to what ChongLordUno is saying. proffesional football(soccer) might be a bit on the pansy side, but watch any pub football team and its a different story.
In the UK the fans are definitely mental.
they have their own little “firms” who go to matches especialy for fights. and the lovely little city I live in is the birth place of that charming little group of peoploe called the EDL… which was pretty much made up of football hooligans.

You only see the ones where diving does occur because they’re more publicized games (world cup for ex.), and oftentimes more heated matches where players are frantic when it comes down to the line.

But if you watch EPL, La Liga, Seria A (well, maybe the Italians…), UEFA games, you rarely see any diving or oscar award winning displays.

Its a matter of simple statistics, people. Get over it. Just because you see highlights of a few games on TV where players dive, doesn’t mean it happens in EVERY GAME THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. Use your brains!
Diving or not, soccer is a weak sport. And boring.
Yeah, american football is much better. Let’s change all team…let’s stop…you got three chances to get past that yellow line…oh, nothing, let’s have YET ANOTHER TV BREAK. How many games a season? 16 per team? Amazing.

Let’s try with baseb…zzz…zzz…

The coordinated strategy behind moving past the line on each and every play outweighs an entire game of soccer.
Yer, I bet you played futbol. And your mom was the coach.

Listen buddy, you will have to take my word. You have no idea about futbol. Like in australia, the media promotes a anti-futbol culture, most probably to promote their own interests. Yes thats right, your a victim of propoganda. No wonder mcdonalds does so well in our respected homelands.

nope, nope and nope.

You like soccer and want to play it? Fine, I respect that. But let’s cut the bullshit right now. There’s nothing “poetic” or “artistic” about soccer. It’s a fucking sport. People run around trying to put a ball into a goal. The same thing happens in just about every other sport. But the difference is you people get so butthurt every time anyone dares mention their dislike of your game that you turn up your noses and make up a bunch of bullshit about poetry.

The NBA? Well, the refs get the calls right most of the time. They probably do in soccer, too. But the difference is that players don’t get kicked out of games because someone near them flopped. What makes it worse is that your chickenshit governing bodies could easily curtail this nonsense by punishing the players that flop. There’s ample film of it, so it wouldn’t be hard to do retroactively. Do that, and I might care. But probably not, because the game still bores me to tears. Hockey is boring too, and I hate it equally.
Edevus wrote:

thats because most of the world is poor as shit and you can play soccer with basically no equipment.

you just said that soccer plays 60 games… you do know that Baseball plays 162 games. 162 games > 60 games. FYI

Have you ever played american football? Have you ever played Rugby? (Im assuming you played soccer before)

I have played all three. Played College football, I played half a season for an international rugby club team and I played soccer plenty of times (once with the Bahrain National team and once with a few players from Panama’s national team) and you cant compare them.

Without a doubt your body takes the most beating from playing American Football. Rugby is a close second but the lack of padding doesnt allow for the same level of collisions as American Football. Soccer is hard/tough/challenging mostly from the conditioning aspect but physically it is not even comparable to the other two. I would argue that playing Basketball (low post play) is much more physical than soccer.

Soccer is tough because you run a ton. Can you take a few elbows here and there and is there a good chance that you’re going to take a boot to the ankle/shin? Sure… but it isnt even comparable to the pounding your body takes in an American Football game or a Rugby match.

Edevus, you basically are ridiculous in you love for soccer.

So in sports that are about contact (rugby and AF) players get more pounding? Really? We’re going back many pages now.

I don’t disagree that soccer is very popular because it’s easy to play, but soccer has some charm that no other sport (pretty much) has and something I said earlier. The low score gives the weak team lots more chances to win. Also, anything can change the course of the game at any moment. You prepare the game during the week, you got the right players…first minute, defensive mistake, your last defender tackles the forward…penalty and red card. It’s a whole new game now. This can’t happen in any other games (except maybe fighting, where a surprise hit can change the entire course of the fight or be a KO right there).

You’ll probably never see what Manchester United did to Bayern in the CL final in any other sport.

What Mr. Bird is saying is not far from the truth. In Australia they want people to hate soccer (in pro of Rugby and Cricket), so propaganda against it is important.

HG, I’m tired of these lies. “They are all the time rolling on the floor crying”. They are NOT.

^^ So what you’re saying is that you agree with what I said and my assessment of the various sports?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Playing basketball as a whole (perimeter, post, whatever) is CONSIDERABLY more physical than soccer. The amount of punishment an aggressive perimeter player takes is no joke.

Rugby and American Football are about contact. In soccer it’s better if you avoid it.

I didnt read all of the pages. Just the first couple posts and then went to the last page. I knew how this thread was going to go because it happens every time there is a soccer thread lol.

The over seas crowd goes nuts about how soccer is so wonderful, its the most popular sport in the world and that scoring only 1 (maybe) goal in 90+ minutes is so great because of the build up/anything can happen/blah blah blah and then american crowd says its boring and guys just running around being pansys and acting like they’re about to have their legs amputated only to get up and run around like nothing happened 2 minutes later.

^^Does that pretty much sum up this thread? (only read the first half page and then the top few posts of the last page)

Actually no. The American Football fans are like “lol soccer is for small dicked guys and AF is for tough Americans like us” and bla bla bla.

Being able to score just one goal in 90 minutes is what makes the sport so exciting.
Football is probably the most unfair sport there is as well. You can be much better and still lose.

LOL

You don’t get it, right?

A goal can arrive in any moment, from any situation. No build up required, just a distraction or a skilled play by a top player. You need constant focus.

Did you watch South Africa’s World Cup?
