Lithium and Hypothyroidism

Would T2 help to prevent lithium induced hypothyroidism and goiter formation? Is T2 a precursor of thyroxine? Does T2 effect the thyroid’s ability to uptake iodine? Any information will be appreciated.

Jason, I too, have been on lithium before. I was using the old T2 2caps 3x daily for a while, when my doc had me do a lithium level test, and a total thyroid. Just being on 1500mgs of lithium/day can do a lot, but mix in the T2, and I found that after a while(month), that some of my thyroid levels began to fall, and some to rise. It was strange, and my doc insisted that I should not take meds or supplements which affects the thyroid while on lithium. As for T2Pro, my doc told me that that is good, since it is a thyroid “support” function, rather than an “accelerator.” Strangely, he yelled at me for taking Sustenon and D-bol, but gave me the ok on T2Pro, and MD6. Go figure? Anyways, I hope this helps, but I think that SWALE or Rainbow can give you a better medical explanation than I can. -The Starkdog.

If anything the T2 would likely speed up the decline in T3 and T4 levels that might occur when on lithium as the T2 will most likely negatively effect the TSH levels over time. However, you might actually still “feel” better when taking t2 as at least you will be adding some form of active thyroid.

Thanks for the input. I don’t know what my thyroid status is, but next time I see my pdoc I’m going to request that he order a blood test for thyroid function, especially T4, T3, and TSH levels.
