Yeah but i’d like to see a D-1 defensive end do that! If anybody knows one that can DL 800 with just a stinking belt I sure as shit would like to see it.
If they trained for it, I have little doubt that any SEC defensive end could deadlift 800 in 1-2 years
ANY SEC defensive end could DL 800 raw with 1-2 years of training?
Come on.
Lol…yeah that statement is pretty bold. Still, I think that that the “genetic elite” of football would be able to deadlift 7-800…they could probably pull 5-6 without training specifically for the deadlift, and I’m sure that if they focused their efforts on it, 7-800 pounds is within their reach.
Personally, I’m of the belief that the strongest dudes in the world are not those found in powerlifting meets…too many strong-ass lifters that for one reason or another don’t compete.
Anyway, this is the first video i found, but this guy lifts 700 for a triple, 4 months after breaking his leg. With a year or two of deadlift-specific training, you don’t think he could pull 800?

That is a beastly pull. Really don’t think the “4 month out from a broken leg” is relevant… I had that same injury and the deadlift was first to come back. I pulled the day my cast came off with no problems, so 4 months is a long time. Squatting took much longer though.
As for Lilliebridge… so young and so fuckin strong!
Inspiring as hell, beautiful pulling.

Anybody else think that he’s gonna break a grand and give Andy Bolton a run for his money?
Luke
I’ll wait until he hits 900 before I say that, but it certainly seems he has the talent. He did have a pretty significant injury this year that hurt his deadlift, so that makes this lift all the more impressive.
The higher the weight goes, the longer it takes to advance. It took Bolton over a year (if I am remembering correctly) to add just a little bit to his record.
3 years between his 1003 and 1008 deadlifts, I couldn’t imagine.
Lilliebridge is a huge badass, but I don’t think he will ever break 1010+.
I would almost prefer to see him stay raw and continue putting up crazy numbers there. He is the poster boy that raw powerlifting needs to help it grow even more.
