Lil Wayne

How did the notorious Christopher Wallace make his albums?

Do you think he wrote anything down?

Answer: No.

Seems like everyone is hating because hes popular. Every time a ‘good-hip-hop’ thread comes up, everyone wants to be the first to spit off some underground artist. They do this like they weren’t lip singing Lil’ Wayne on the way home from the gym yesterday.

Now, I’m not saying anything is wrong with any of the aforementioned artist. I basically only listen to hip hop, can quote most any lyrics, and understand whats good in each respective aspect.

Don’t just hate because he’s rich, especially if you haven’t taken the time to listen to every song. I don’t mean have it playing while doing homework, I’m talking actually paying attention, even having to rewind it when a rapper blows your mind.

I’m not a huge fan of his stuff, but I’ve mainly been exposed to the mainstream tunes. I get tired of hearing the same effect on every song- is it a vocoder?

I understand he works hard and churns out the music. A friend of mine told me that a lot of his stuff is available for free and is superior to the commercial tunes he comes out with. I respect him for working so hard, but I still don’t think his music is my cup of tea.

One of the most reasonable post on this thread.

No one is making you like his music, there is plenty of genres I choose not to listen to. But, I don’t get my estrogen levels up when I hear those types of music either.

Again, don’t hate because he made it. Give him ‘props,’ don’t listen to him, and move on.

I’m not gonna hate on Wayne because he is pretty talented. I follow rap pretty closely and I will agree that I can’t take this fake voice shit. I have never liked T-Pain doing it and I didn’t mind it when Kanye did it at first, but it is getting ridiculous now. Go back to actually rapping about real shit.

Have you even heard T-pains albums? Yes, he uses the auto-tune quite a bit, but that’s what’s popular right now in music.

T-Pain has a great voice though, doesn’t need the auto-tune at all.

In his latest album, he also proved he could rap.

Lil’ Wayne is a horrible rapper.

Hip-Hop has died to the youth these days, they just want that “Hot Sh*t”, and more concerned about how the video looks and what the rapper is wearing, with no care about the content and the lyrics.

The only people keeping it real these days are:

Verbal Threat:

Little Brother:

eMC:

In fact, check out anyone in the Justus League, people like Edgar Allen Floe.

I’m 18 and I’m sick of everyone I know loving people like Lil’ Wayne who can’t rap, can’t rhyme, and have nothing to say. Whenever you show them anything by Gang Starr or something produced by Preem, Pete Rock or Dilla they just don’t get it.

Lol, Ironic huh?

Oh man do I agree with this post. As soon as rap is mentioned on this board motherfuckers are tripping over themselves to drop names of what backpack rapper they like best.

It reminds me of that “Stuff white people like” where they talk about how white people listen to music that blacks don’t like anymore.

I don’t really like wayne but it depends on the song. Most of his solo shit I don’t like, but when they throw him on a track like “Swagga Like Us” or “We Takin over” he can burn it up. Just depends.

I record , and have been deep into underground rap for quite sometime. I will say that Lil wayne used to have a sparkle and realism for a popular rapper : that stopped with the carter II.

I will give it to him for selling his ass off to anything that moves to make a buck.

Here are some rappers that would leave him in the dust!!!

anything in EASTOAKLAND, is on another level than LIL WAYNE HERE ARE THREE SONGS FOR YOU> to compare skillz

…and his lyrics suck. Why are people defending him so much? That first vid/songs linked SUCKS. I’m not even hating on the use of auto-tune as long as it doesn’t make up the entirety of someone’s talent…like one particular artist.

Catchy tune? Nope.
Impressive lyrics that I will be repeating in the car? Nope.

This is no Eminem or Notorious BIG.

I like Shooter with him and Robin Thicke. However, for every one song like that where you start to cut him some slack, he releases 20 pieces of crap for the radio that just make me turn the fucking station quickly.

I honestly think he is a one hit wonder who releases so much shit that he keeps hitting one out of the park every few hundred songs by accident.

Isn’t this the 3rd or 4th thread about Lil’ Wayne now? haha

Can’t we just all agree that he sucks and move on already.

/turns up Mos Def

If you grew up listening to kiss fm and hot97 I would ask you if you was fuckin kidding me.

But I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt. His albums were compilations of rhymes he went over numerous times either in his head or wrote down.
Unless your saying that Biggie was so stupid that he would think of exactly the same thing to say in his freestyles. Since freestyles and songs would have the same multiple lines in them. Or he would get on the radio as Flex “what do you think of this that I came up with yesterday?” then it would be on his album next year?

Don’t you think if he really thought of rhymes on the spot he would’ve came out with more than 2 albums in a 6 year period?

If you can’t tell when rappers think of a rhyme on the spot and when they took time out before hand to think of it your really not capable of saying who has good lyrics and who doesn’t.

I’m not hating on little wayne just calling it how I see it, why do you think he’s one of the few rappers who puts can put out sssssssoooooooooooooooooooooo many mixtapes. Because he drops EVERYTHING, not just his good shit. I don’t jump on anybody jock because they are …, and I don’t hate anybody because they are … if they make good music they make good music.

Oh I agree. That “Lollipop” song alone makes me cringe enough that you’ll never see me defending him.

lmao @ someone from NO which is practically a third world country unto itself not being “street”. Where are you from, Baghdad?[/quote]

I spent a good part of my life in Mexico, I know how shit goes down

and just because youre from NO doesnt mean youre “gangster”

but for some fun, let’s see what happens if he goes to the barrio

jaja I’m Mexican and if Weezy DID come to TJ he’d get the same treatment any other rapper gets when he crosses the border. fools would stumbling over each other to be the first to jock him.

Wayne has some good ryhmes but agree with alot of you guys…they were back in the day. Half the time you hear him now you cant even tell what the hell he’s talking about.

Personally i think ol’ dude is drugging himself out.

adding to that, Eminem is garbage too

every1 knows his fanbase is from jr high to juniors in high school

ususally the ones who are immature enough to get a thrill everytime someone says “fuck”

he’s a joke, the only reason ppl still kno who he is, is because all the times he’s had to defend himself for being a “child”

his first two cds-full of clown shit

3 one, he tried to get street, and nobody bought that garbage

he is the best rhymer out there, but his content is not worth the effort of listening

its like,a guy being huge and maxing on the bench at 185

would you respect that guy?,

Hell NO!!

So why respect these lame ass dudes, for basically doing the same thing

you mean “jack” him

For the people who say Lil Wayne can’t rap, use autotune or a voice synthesizer or whatever, obviously are making this assumption off the FEW mainstream songs you’ve heard from him. Go download his mixtapes, and listen to a majority of his songs before you say otherwise.

I’ll admit that some of the songs he puts out, like lollipop, aren’t really rap, but hey, thats what’s popular right now. He succeeded in appealing to all types of crowds and is making a bunch of money by doing so. He makes good rap songs, and good “club” songs, period.

While were on the subject, what do you guys think about 50 Cent starting shit with all these rappers? (Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Ja Rule, and etc)?

I think 50 cent, for the most part, has fallen out of the rap game. If you listen to his stuff, he can’t really rap. I’m guessing this is just some ploy to get some attention, but I could be wrong. It will be interesting though, to see what Shady and Dre come out with.

Regardless, I think Wayne will still be on top, largely because he can make songs that “sound good” to a lot of people. His lyrics are very witty and catchy. That said, M and Wayne have two different rap styles.

If you guys enjoy the rap and t-painish type songs, check out
Maino ft. T-Pain- All of the above
I actually like this track alot.

Good rap/ hip hop = Pac, Biggie, Nwa, Ghetto Boys, Some LL, Common, some Chamillionaire, anything with and ol school mix, Mims, Luda,Busta Rhymes,Scarface,Epmd,Capone&Noreaga, BoogieDown Productions, Jay-Z, The WU, Bone-thugs, Ice Cube, DRE Chronic and Chronic 2001!!! Ol Snoop,DMX, TRU, Master P (more entertaining than the bullshit out now),Eminem, 3-6 mafia, Bun B, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Jedi Mind trick(just got onto them),Immortal Technique…

This is all I can think of right now, I give respect to Wayne for getting where he is but most of his shit and damn near everything else that is coming out now days are SHIT!! I can tell you I do not harldy ever listen to the radio anymore, I just throw in a ol school mix CD or one of the above mentioned…

What the hell is T-pain famous for?

Artists used to get lynched like Milli Vanilli if it was found out they really can’t sing at all. Now they get paid for it.

No I mean jock him. Underground rap’s huge in Baja, a lot of TJ or shikali rappers take their cues from Weezy right now.

He’s got his own style. He’s not the best in the game but he’s pretty damn good. Like I said on another thread, that song “Get Up” goes pretty fuckin hard, and I’ve never really heard a CD of his that I didn’t like, so I can’t say anything bad about him.

Please. Em’s one of the best, definitely in my top 5 that are rapping right now. The guy knows his shit and lives his life. And if he’s not “street”, I’m not sure what is. You motherfuckers have some hardass standards to meet.

And you know who I don’t respect? People who type on message boards like it’s a motherfuckin text message.
