My mom was filling out a form and i told her the date, July 14th.
I kept thinking, hmm, July 14th, why does that day seem significant.
I kept saying it in my head
And then I thought, I think this is the day Cameron Poe was set to be released from prision in Con Air.
I could hear cyrus the virus reading the letter he found in the box “my daddy is coming home on July 14th”
I looked it up, and I was right.
This is cameron poe’s release date. Well, if the plane hadn’t been hijacked.
I felt so proud of myself for getting that date right

I think this is probably the strongest my press has ever been, or close to it anyway.
It’s usually the lift that feels like there’s little potential. But I’m quite excited about it now

Ok, not so great update -

I’m having some severe neck pain and can’t do shit. It started light on Tuesday, and by Thursday it’s barely manageable. I haven’t slept in a few days because I literally feel this intense throbbing in my neck every second of the day.

I’m in hell right now. I haven’t missed more than maybe 3 planned workouts in a decade. I train sick, sleep deprived, depressed, whatever, but I literally can’t do anything right now.

It’s hard to just walk because the throbbing is more intense when i stand up.

I went to the chiro yesterday and felt ok for a few hours, but last night was maybe the worst so far.

Not sure what happened. It didn’t start during a workout or anything.

I’m not sure what I’d do without my son driving me to chiro and the drug store. He’s been a big help.

I picked up some more pain relievers, so we’ll see how i sleep tonight

I really, really hope i can workout somehow tomorrow :smiling_face_with_tear::pleading_face:

feel better soon

Hopefully better. Pain + no sleep is a wicked double whammy.

Don’t feel bad about taking a break - sometimes life throws us a deload. You’re gonna come back rested, strong and motivated! Sending you hugs, prayers and lots of healing vibes.

Doggone, that sucks. Neck and back issues are miserable. Do you have health insurance? If so, you might want to go to the doctor for some imaging to see what’s going on. Hopefully it’s just severe soft tissue strain, but it helps to know so you can treat it effectively and get back to your regularly scheduled workouts!

Yeah, unfortunately doctors here at walk in clinics suck ass, LOL

I don’t have a family doctor anymore, and there arent any places in my town or in the city accepting new patients.

I took a muscle relaxant yesterday for the first time in my life and I felt wayyyy better. I was able to actually get some sleep AND I could lift this morning!

I think for the early part of this week I’m just gonna do whatever I want that doesn’t hurt. I’m not sticking to exercises or numbers until I can push myself 100%.

With that said, I still hit my bench target

Bench press

115lbs x 5

122lbs x 2

Board press

Belt squat

100lbs x 10

90lbs x 18

70lbs x 21

Lat pulldown superset chest supported row

50lbs / 35lbs per side

X 12 + 10 partials / x 15

X 12 + 10 partials/ x 15

Reverse hyper

100lbs x 20

I realized my kabuki bar is 55lbs not 45lbs, so my numbers have been off by 10lbs every workout. But, i feel like I’m cheating if i just add back that 10lbs, so I’m going to keep doing it wrong, LOL.

Neck was making me pretty irritable a few hours ago, but it seems to have calmed down now. I’ll hold off on ibuprofen unless i think i won’t be able to sleep.

I also think maybe no military press or chin ups until later in the week. I’m hesitant about low bar squats putting pressure on my trap, but it might be ok.

Honestly, I just felt so relieved to be in my gym doing anything at all. I don’t care if it’s not organized or progress right now.

I went to comic con as Sarah connor (I had her sunglasses, but i was blind AF without my glasses, LOL).

Anyway, I met the t-1000 liquid metAL

He said YOU’RE SARAH CONNOR. I said OMG YOu can tell who I am! Then I rambled about the sunglasses for a while.

Then he said YOU’RE FIT! How many pullups can you do!?

Then I rambled about my workout routine for a while.

Just catching up on your log. Great work here!

Right?! There’s a little button/tab in the upper-left corner with the letters M and A. Press the tab so M is bold/darker, and you’ll set the spacing to single instead of the automatic double spacing. I learned this from… someone who I can’t remember in @TrainForPain’s log.

Notes : I wanted to mention on the above OHP day that this is the first time i haven’t stalled at around 85lbs, this is also the first time I’m literally only increasing 1lb per week. Slow AF is better than stalling !

I also wanted to highlight how much I love the camber bar. I actually like it more than the Buffalo bar gasp

It increases proprioception like crazy and seems to be having a good carry over to my straight bar.

The store where I got the bar is having a 50 percent off sale and I decided to finally get a full squat cage! It will probably come next week and it will be absolutely exhausting taking apart the half rack and setting up this new thing. Especially because it will be just me and my 75 yr old mom working away.

But it will be great when it’s all set up!

Ok, so, random, semi interesting story:

Back in April I had my ever occuring breakdown of “I have no idea how to handle my miserable existence of working in a call centre.” I’ve worked in legal call centre’s, insurance, emergency 911, and retirement plans. I hate call centre work, but it was all that I knew…

I ended up getting an inheritance from my grandma and my mom encouraged me to get certified as a personal trainer and to try to change careers into something I actually loved.

She was really supportive and told me even if I don’t find work, then to just gain the knowledge for the sake of my youtube channel.

I started my certification course and wanted to give up about half a dozen times because I SUCK at biology and I never thought I’d pass the test.

I failed it once, booked it two days later and passed. Then I passed my practical exam and had no idea how to actually get a job. Every posting wanted you to have 2 years of previous experience, so I just started taking every NASM course in existence to beef up my resume.

But months went by, and I got very discouraged about ever actually getting hired. I had a ridiculous interview at Planet Fitness and the job was basically a minimum wage, cleaning role, with the title of personal trainer, and some other B.S. online scam situation, but nothing seemed legit.

Once again, I got upset, and my mom continued to support me. I said, what, is some new gym just going to appear out of nowhere here?!

Anyway, later that day, a job posting for a new gym appeared out of nowhere.

I literally had a 5 minute virtual interview and was hired on the spot. But I wasn’t quite sure what just happened. She was like “well, I like you. You seem to be really passionate about fitness. I’ll send you intake forms”

I thought, wtf, intake forms? Am i hired? What’s going on? Sure enough, yep, I received new hire forms in my emails.

I’m officially a personal trainer after about 20 years of chickening out :).

End story time / \

Rest day today !
