Sorry, Joe. VERY late reply! Yes, I use elbow sleeves on Bench and Military, once I get to a certain weight…usually 205# on MP and 275+ on bench.
Its been 2 months and all we get is ‘yes I use elbow sleeves’??? Where you been and how are you. How’s the family?
Lol…sorry Steve. You are correct.

We are all doing just fine. Everyone is healthy, aches and pains aside, and moving forward. Kids will be out of school in just less than a month.

I have been working, doing the yard and garden thing (that has taken a lot of my time), working out, raising little ones, etc…

And being slack at posting

Good to see things are going well, LS, and everyone is healthy.

Jack! I saw that you were back and decided that I could come out of hiding as well!

I wasn’t hiding, I just took two weeks off from the gym and posting and woke up and it was a year later. Hehe. Anyway, its good to be back.

Now that’s more like it. Good to read everyone is doing well. Hope to see you around every once in awhile.

“It” is correct. When I decided to stop dipping, Jennifer girded herself for living with a monster. Surprisingly enough, I wasn’t a bear at all. I just acted like someone had taken my reason for living…lol.

I see that you are still haunting this place. No doubt making great progress. Hit that 300# MP yet?? Me neither…

Thanks, Steve. I’m gonna try to do better.

Bench this afternoon. Fun, fun. Nothing too pressing, though. Get it? “bench”…“pressing”…?? Nevermind…

Wed. on a four day week…Bench and Kroc Rows

Decided to push the weight just a bit, as I haven’t gone over 315# in a pretty good while. Glad I did. I felt strong. The only hiccup was on my last set. Everything was drenched in sweat and a bit slippery. I spent as much effort trying to keep stable as pressing. Will, no doubt, get the 3rd rep next go.

Alternating sets between bench and Krocs

Bench
barx20
95x10
135x5
185x5
225x5
275x3
315x3
335x3
350x2 - ugly, slippery reps, but powered through 2

Kroc Rows
45x12
65x10x6
65x15

Again, my DBs only go up to 65#.

Shoulder did fine for months, when not doing MP and keeping bench moderately light. Well, it hurts again. There is no winning this. So…just keep lifting.

Last workout of the week…

Multiple sets of Military Press and Laterals alternated with Lat Pulls and Seated Rows…

Military Press
barx20
95x10
145x10x5

Laterals
40x8x4

Lat Pulls
115x12
175x10x2

Seated Rows - close grip
175x10x2
200x10x2

Seated Rows - wide grip
200x10x2

Next workout will be Sunday, maybe Monday, depending on how I feel.

Sometimes us old guys need that extra day. I skipped last night because I still ached from my last workout.

Steve, that is truth. Anymore, I play it by ear. Interestingly enough, “playing it by ear” has led to some 4 workout weeks, which I didn’t used to do. Hopefully it pays off.

Lots of yard work this weekend…mowing, weed eating, cleaning gutters, weeding garden, mulching shrubs… This accompanied by a living room campout with the kids and an impromptu marshmallow roasting in the backyard. Then, this afternoon, my wife and two boys had a birthday party to go to. So, me and my girl (daughter…11 next month) went and grabbed some ice cream, curled up on the couch and watched “Friday the 13th”, the original. She is a horror movie freak. So, I introduced her to one I first saw when I was 11.

Still haven’t decided about tomorrow’s workout. We’ll see…

Damn good to see you back around these parts again.

Thanks James. Good to have a stomping ground.

Heavy Military and Back…

Back to it. This is heavy MP day, accompanied with lat pulls and specific rear delt work.

Alternating sets of MP and LP.

Military Press
barx20
95x10
135x5
185x5
210x3
235x3
250x5 - PR +1 Rep
250x2

Lat Pulls
115x12
175x10
185x10x4
200x10x2

Followed by Reverse Flyes

Rev. Flyes
40x10x4

Pleased with the PR, especially since everything felt kind of heavy and slow. Had I known that it was only a one rep PR, though, I might have gone for a 6th rep. It would have taken everything I had, but might have gone.

Great PR, LS, 250 x5 is a big press.

Thanks, Jack. I still don’t seem to be eeking any closer to 300#, though. Eventually…

250 is great. Congrats.

250 for 5? Wow, that’s solid work.
