I read (on Steeley’s log) you’re thinking of getting a leg press. I take it leg press doesn’t bother your back? Sounds like a great idea.
You’re gonna need a hell of a lot of plates for that, Buddy!!

Thats fierce looking lifting and I don’t care who you are, a 255 milie IS heavy.

Brett, I have been considering it. And, traditionally, leg press hasn’t bothered my back. There are two main issues…1) cost and 2) finding room in my “weight room”. I have 715# in plates. If I could find a 45 degree leg press, that would be enough for a decent workout.
I want to get back on lighter squats, or shallower squats, because I REALLY need to work my legs. But my back is constantly sore as it is, just from the pressure put on by bench arch, military press and seated rows. Last time I tried rack pulls, I hurt for days…and I didn’t even go heavy.
We’ll see.

Thanks, Joe. It is just frustrating that it feels so heavy. Part of it is the weight loss, I am sure. Also, I have been off the creatinez. Though, i am back on it now. The most obvious issue is that my left shoulder is playing hell. It’s hard to get a max effort and feel good about doing the rep when your shoulder is tweaking like heck.
Just a mental dump…
Left shoulder - the damned thing just will not go away. It seems to be getting worse of late. I know I have the bicep tendon issue, but I am feeling it all over the shoulder now. I don’t know if it is radiant discomfort, fatigue from compensating to avoid the BT pain or something else is cropping up.
I will probably drop Behind the Neck Press, since it is aggravating, even though I am only going down to the middle of my head. Also, I may lay off of Military Press for a week or two (even though the idea is killing me). DB Press doesn’t seem to bother them, even though I was doing it when I first “injured” the shoulder, many years ago.
Fatigue - my shoulders don’t seem to ever recover. That makes sense, since every workout drills them. I might ease off on the CGB, on chest/tricep day, to not hit the anterior delts quite so hard on that day. That is a BIG might, though.
Weight loss - I weighed today exactly the same thing as last Friday. Since I have been very good with my diet, and equally good with my workouts, my guess is that the creatine is causing some degree of water retention, which is to be expected. It is a trade-off. Sunday will tell the tale, though.
The flipside is that I seem to be “swollen” through the traps, triceps and delts. I am not talking about anything major, but I do appear to be “fuller”. That may account for some of the weight.
Legs - I really need to get some sort of legwork back into the mix. My back is the main issue, right now. Deads, Rack Pulls and RDLs are a no go. Even though I may try them at a very light weight. Full squats, unless really light, are also an issue. I need to look at a varied stance to see if I can relieve some of the pressure via that route. Barring that, squats to just above parallel might work. Now, to figure out how to work them in.
Diet - Still doing the no sugar (except in condiments and a protein bar…can’t handle artificial sweeteners) and diminished carbs (especially simple carbs) thingy. Most of my simple carbs come from milk. Any others come from breading/batter, which is rare, and maybe some white rice or pasta…about a cup. Any more, eating anything sugary is likely to make me feel ill. Friday is still a cheat night…pizza and coke! And I am not strict on Sunday. But still nothing too sugary.
The difficulty in this is multiplied by the fact that my wife was been going through a baking frenzy…cake, brownies, cookies, etc…
Workouts - I have no idea what I am doing, except doing sets and reps until my muscles are on fire. It is fun! I may, in the near future, modify things (mainly rest periods and supersets) so that I can use a little more weight on the exercises. I don’t want to go beyond a 60 second rest between sets, though, for the time being. 45 seconds is providing a good burn and sufficient fatigue. Also, at 45 seconds, I am sucking wind hard by workouts end. So I am getting some cardio.
Speaking of, I am slowly upping the speed on my treadmilling. I am going up .1 mph/week. It isn’t much, but enough that I will be hoofing it pretty good in a month. .1 mph doesn’t sound like much, but to my short little legs it is a lot.
okay…novel complete

My heart cries for you. NOT. We just went through a ice storm last week . Id have taken the snow over the inch of ice that formed on every thing.
Good novel - sometimes just getting thoughts down in writing helps
Bulldog, I know you nawthen folks must be tired of this stuff. My brother lives in IL. He sounds much the same. It’s still novel to me. Although, I have to admit. After a few days, when it is too cold for the kids to play outside and the piled up snow starts to turn black, well…it can go away now. Supposed to be in the 60’s the 1st of the week. So it will be going away. I am ready for Spring.
Soldog, you are exactly right. I don’t really have anyone here (my physical location) that shares my interests. So it usually doean’t get said. Nice to see it out in the world.
On a side note, while working out, Thursday, I got my wife under the bar!!
I was doing MP and just finished my set with just the bar. My wife says, “You look like you are just playing with that.” Well, I was. It was just the bar. So I replied, “Why don’t you give it a try?” She did. And 45# went up with no problem. My next set was with 95#. She unracked it but couldn’t press it. That was my fault, since I had the pins set where I unrack it…mid stroke for her. We dropped the pins down and replaced the 25’s with 10’s. She unracked it and 65# went up, with a just bit of a struggle.
She definitely had 75-80# in her. Give me time. Before you know it, I will have her repping 100#. I have already been hinting to her that a little bit of muscle mass would help fill out the loose skin (from all the weight loss) that she is always complaining about. I think she is starting to nibble at the bait!

I was in a time crunch, while posting, earlier. I didn’t mention that I got my wife on the bench, today. She managed 85#. This from someone who has never benched and had zero form. I think cleaning up her form would get her to 100#. I am still working at her.
Funny thing is, get her away from a weight set, like moving furniture, and she is strong as an ox. I think there is potential.

I know. I just suck at patience. Not that I have a choice in this one.[/quote]
I prayed for patience once. What I got was numerous opprotunities to practice it ![]()
good stuff going on here. congrats on the weight loss
Rug, that is how it seems to work. So far, it has taught me to display patience…not to really have it.
Thanks, Pete. It is a slow process, but I really don’t want to shed muscle like in weight losses past.
Kittens!
Kali had her kittens last night. Seven of them. All are healthy and doing well.
The kids are beside themselves. And I am tired. She, apparently, wanted us there for the whole thing. Moral support, I guess. It was a late night.

1st Kitten…about 10 minutes old.

Furry heap of innocence.
Don’t look too long! That much cuteness could cause your head to explode!
Yeah…I like cats.
Although, I think I am angling for a dog, for the kids, once the kittens have found homes.
More cute kitten pics please!
And I think it would be remiss not to have one of the proud Mom. Is she really nursing seven! little ones at once?
