Awesome! Hard to tell, but is Ghost a Samoyed?
He’s a White German Shepherd Dog. I get asked if he’s a samoyed a lot, though! He’s going to be bloody massive when fully grown. Currently 18kg, will be over 40kg eventually.

I love Shepherds, but I’ve never seen a white one before. Awesome. As far as I’m concerned you can post as many pictures of him as you want!

Yeah there’s not many of them around. Only two breeders in my part of the country. There are long and short hair versions, just like regular Shepherds. Personality-wise, exactly the same though the white GSDs are not often bred for guard work. He’s fucking great fun to have here, though maddening at times haha.

So motivating man. I’d say my heart goes out to you (and it does), but you clearly have enough of your own! Keep kicking ass brother.
Cheers for the words of encouragement! Best wishes to you in your life and training also

SWEEEEEEET my first 100kg bench since my operation!
It was a little ugly and certainly wasn’t easy haha, but I’m really pleased.
One cool thing to note: for the first time ever, I felt my lats activate while benching. I actually felt like they finished the movement rather than my shoulders, pretty cool. Must be all the rowing I’ve been doing.
Two of my buddies who have always been a little weaker than me (prior to sickness) have challenged me to a Bench Off on 12th July, approximate 7 weeks from now.
I desperately want to bash the shit out of their lifts, and regain some ego points.
So if anyone has advice for getting my bench as big as possible between now and then, throw it my way haha. My routine is as follows:
M
Bench B531
Incline DB 3-5 x 8-12
Flys
T
Barbell Bench Row B531
Chins
Rear Delt Flys
W
REST
Th
Press B531
Bench 5 x 10
Side and Front Delt Raises
F
Deadlift B531 (no amrap)
Squat B531 (no amrap)
Calf Raise
S
Dips
Chins
Hammer Curls
Curls
Tri Extensions
Sun
REST
Probably not much to really boost my bench except gaining weight haha. Already getting heaps of upper body work in I guess.
Very impressive man. Keep going strong. To me it sounds like Cancer picked the wrong guy to mess with.
Your thread really puts things in perspective for me. If you can remain this positive and motivated throughout your battle none of us really have any grounds to complain when we feel things arent going our way, with problems that are laughable when compared to what your facing.
Have you thought about doing some floor presses? Good way to overload your lockout a bit & you could prob use the hooks at the bottom of your rack to set the bar on.

I certainly hope you are correct :).
Perspective is crazy aye. I certainly know now, when it comes to future health issues, nothing short of a broken back will ever bother me again haha. I used to get depressed over shoulder strains, seems like a tiny joke now.
Regardless of what time brings, I’m happy with the lessons learned thus far.
First time I’ve noticed your log and this is awesome, man! Really inspiring.
Regarding the bench, if you have access to chains, use them. I’ve seen a lot of progress with them. I’d add another bench day to the program you’ve written a few posts up. Maybe add it in on Saturday. This is where you’d work your floor press, like Lift and Eat mentioned, or chains.

Just scoped your log, the Cube Method looks badass. Good shit. I’m massively excited about crushing my weakness once I’m off this damn chemo. Unsure what program I will use, and of course I need surgical clearance to squat or dead even moderately heavy. But yeah have a lot of programs I want to try. It’s been frustrating as hell being stuck on minimal intensity and losing so much strength.
But! It will make it so much sweeter when I’m finally strong.
I don’t have chains unfortunately, but Floor and Pin Press are in the plan. Will be starting next week with 3 pressing days per week.
Going to ditch the B531 sets and reps while working towards this little bench bro meet, and reduce intensity for all lifts other than bench builders.
Rear Delt Fly
8 x 12.5kg pair
8 x 12.5kg
8 x 12.5kg
I felt like junk today, probably due to busting ass on the bench yesterday. Didn’t push any jokers on the Bench row but managed a decent amrap set.
Just quite fatigued, but I feel nice and relaxed after lifting and will no doubt wake up feeling fine tomorrow after a good nights’ sleep!
So far in this chemo cycle, the side effects have been minimal. Some shortness of breath, mild gut nausea and the occasional feeling of being washed out, which is fatigue I guess… that is all.
Well sure gaining weight. But also all the other good stuff lifting does like improved hormonal health, better body comp, improved cardio-vascular health and on and on.

Good points! It seems crazy the medical people don’t actively encourage exercise during chemo. Every time I go for an appointment they tell me to go for gentle walks, to relax and rest as much as possible, not to strain myself - etc.
In my opinion the hospital should have physiotherapists and dietitians working on active strategies to assist maintaining and even increasing muscle mass and general physical health.
It seems like the common consensus is you need to lie around, barely moving, to try and conserve enough energy to survive chemo. Seems ridiculous!
Eating well and training hard improves your lifestyle when you’re healthy… why the hell would it be any different when you’re sick?
