Good luck Panzerfaust. Keep up the incredible work, you honestly inspire me so much more than anything else ever has. I can’t believe the inner strength you have man.
Not much else going on. Having a fair bit of fluctuating abdominal pain, but only 4 days and I will have some answers :). My dad is flying down next week to come along to the scan results appointment with me.
Thanks guys!
I got some decent news today; called in the union to deal with my managers and they are trying to work out a better deal for me. I need to present tomorrow’s information before we can make a plan, but my manager and HR person said they will try and find a way to better support me. Funny how the tone changes as soon as you have a union rep sitting there with you! Haha.
So hopefully tomorrow brings clarity and a way forward :).
Have had two days off lifting as I’m just feeling a bit wiped out, will be back at it when I feel ready. Hopefully tomorrow!
To refresh, a few weeks ago I had a CT scan done which showed what appeared to be a lump growing on my stomach lining (suggesting an inoperable tumour) and also a dodgy mark in my liver, again suggesting new tumour.
This, combined with my bloods being dodgy and my tumour markers rising suggested really bad stuff was happening inside me.
I hadn’t detailed this on my log as the doctors didn’t tell me the seriousness until today, which I am thankful for.
But today we got the results of a new CT plus PET scan and both the lumps have completely vanished, my tumour markers have gone down, and the PET scan showed Nothing at all. Apparently the panel of doctors had like 6 meetings to try and make sense of it, but yeah news is alllll good.
Fucking ridiculously stoked and blown away by it.
So this means I can continue my chemotherapy as of today and everything is back on track. They also explained my kidney issue - apparently an undiagnosed pre-existing kidney weakness which was exacerbated by my chemo. And the pains are likely a result of bowel adhesions; should fade with time.
My Dad and I prayed for ages before heading to the clinic today, and I had both my parents there with me. Was just simply amazing to get this news.

Right, so I had the rest of last week off to relax and celebrate great news with my family. Back into it today.

Notes:
I’m back on the chemo now, at a half dose of Capecitabine. They’ve decided it’s too dangerous for my kidneys to put me on Oxylaplatin at this stage, though they may try it in one of the later cycles.
So far no noticeable side effects, just a few dizzy spells and minor fatigue. Digestion is still fine as I am using a powder called Konsyl D, awesome stuff.
Dumbbell Chest Flies
12 x 10kg pair
12 x 10
12 x 10
12 x 10
12 x 10
Feeling pretty good :).
Pondering doing some kind of German Volume Training template after this cycle. Just for submaximal hypertrophy work. Kind of bums me out that I can’t go AMRAP on squat and dead, that’s mainly why I am considering it.

i still can’t believe you’re lifting on chemo. amazing.
I will happily admit I’m finding it hard to motivate myself the last week or so, hence the gaps between posting.
I’m going to try finish off this cycle today and change it up a bit. I know I’m lifting such small amounts that program choice is irrelevant, but for mental staying power I need to keep interested.
The half dose is not as bad, most side effects are mild fatigue (think hangover level), fluctuating stomach cramps every couple of hours, and occasional gut nausea.
I feel a bit frustrated as I can’t seem to get heavier than 79kg, been sitting on this every morning for the last 2-3 weeks. I’ve added 100g mixed nuts into eating to try and bust this weight plateau, but honestly I think I need to lift a bit more frequently.
Enough jibber jabber, will go lift now then design a new template!
Bench
3 x 50kg
2 x 60

Right so today I decided I’m unhappy with my efforts of late, so I held a micro meet with myself in the basement. I have heard of mini meets, but this one was using micro weights.
I’ve been guilty of not putting in enough effort and it’s time to remedy that.
While they are nothing on past achievements, I am proud that for the first time since my operation I lifted 100kg. And I am proud of the progress I have made in all lifts to date.
These were perhaps not Absolute Maxes, but they were Safe Maxes, which when you have a barely healed foot-long abdominal incision, you need to pay mind to! Literally busting a gut is not admirable, it is stupid.
So I will use these singles as my baseline for the next cycle, whatever shape it may take.
