Lifting, PEDs & Cardiac Blood Test Results

I almost passed out while squatting. From a blood test my Troponin I (hs Tnl) was measured at 152.02 ng/L from a range of <= 78.5. I was told this had increased 3x in a few hours. This high value was the result in the 2nd blood test. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Did any of the doctors not tell you that increased Troponin I levels are associated with those that have experienced heart attacks within 6-12 hours? That’s what Dr google told me.

Troponin levels can be elevated as a result of health conditions other than heart attack. Conditions that may cause a patient to have elevated troponin levels include: Other types of acute coronary syndrome, including unstable angina. Acute myocarditis, which is inflammation of the heart muscle

The EKG and CT scans with contrast all came back normal with no indication of a heart attack.

What this has to do with lifting and PEDs?

I’ve read a lot about how PEDs affect blood values and didn’t know if this was one of those. TRT + Nandrolone Decanoate + Oxandrolone.

Where did u read that they affect this one value?

I didn’t find anything regarding this value so I wanted to see if anyone else knew. I had a 3rd blood draw for this cardiac enzyme and they just got back to me and said it was negative which is good. They didn’t tell me the value.

I was able to see the value in the app and it was 31.81 ng/L. The normal range is <= 78.5.

Thanks, I’ll read that carefully. My 4th result came back at 19.97 ng/dL. My echocardiogram came back all normal except for slight left ventricular hypertrophy with an estimated ejection fraction of 55-60%.

Just by chance they found a mass in my lung that needs to be biopsied.

Is this heart hypertrophy from training? I have no idea because I’m dumb and am curious how the doctors determined hypertophy.

Did you have a prior exam or is it just compared to the typical fat lazy person heart population?

And I’m thinking about the nandrolone.

Got out of the hospital this past Friday and back home. Squatting at full effort and no problems. Maybe the dizziness and almost fainting was caused by Anastrozole and/or Minoxidil. I stopped taking the Minoxidil and my Anastrozole is down to 1mg/week taking .25mg about every other day. I have blood tests scheduled next week to check for the usual panels.

Why are you taking this much Anastrozole? What is your E2?

Perhaps you’ve got a dizzy or fainting sensation from doing a bunch of reps of heavy squats - this is something that happens to me from time to time and nothing to worry about, especially in the 15-20 rep range. Make sure your performing the Valsalva maneuver correctly. Doing it wrong can also make you dizzy.

The endocrinologist prescribed 1mg @ 3 times per week. My Esreadiol prior to the Anastrozole measured 62.1 pg/mL in one test and 77 in another. I believe he prescribed this dosage to lower the risk of blood clots? My last blood test came back with 20 pg/mL. I was afraid this was too low for the protective benefits of Estradiol, sexual function and gaining mass. I saw people saying to take more like 1mg/week so that’s what I’m doing now. .25mg @ four times a week. I have my next blood test next week.

The squatting wasn’t any heavier or more strenuous than usual. I go to parallel and try and push myself. I have a squat rack with safety bars so I can go heavy and be safe if I can’t complete a squat. For squat and deadlifts variations I don’t go above 10 reps unless I am switching things up by reducing intensity and doing volume.

Where you taking topical or oral minoxdil? Was it for BP or for hair loss?

Minoxidil taken orally can cause BP to go down, and or heart rate to go up. In rare cases it can cause a build up of water around the heart. This can occur with even low oral doses, but is usually something that happens quickly, and would usually be accompanied with pedal edema (I don’t think always though).

Oral Minoxidil for hair loss. My blood pressure has increased a bit since starting TRT. My average resting blood pressure taken 26 times since April is 129/72 and my average heart rate for the same is 58.

How much were you taking? It can impact things like EKGs.

I had gone up from 120mg/week to 180mg/week to 200mg/week and finally to 250mg/week divided into daily injections. I went back down to 120mg/week back on June 5th. I was also taking 100mg/week Nandrolone Decanoate and went up to 200mg/week when I increased the Testosterone. I stopped the Nandrolone at the end of May. I was also taking Oxandralone at 40mg/day sublingual from about mid April to about mid May.

This can cause issues for some. Especially ND, but I was more wondering how much oral minoxidil you were taking?

2.5mg taken nightly.

That isn’t extreme, but if you’re having any heart issues, I think it is wise to stop taking it.

Thanks everyone for the input and for the help. I’m going to see another Cardiologist to review my scans and blood work. I’ll also be getting a stress test.

I stopped the Minoxidil but I have no idea if that caused the incident. For all I know I just held my breath too long and this was all just a freak thing and a scare about nothing.

They also found something in my lung that has to be biopsied. Perhaps that was the cause.
