Hey yawl, heres my-situation. Any advise most welcome. Been on TRT since 39. 43 today. .3 every 3 days. 150 weekly. Daily cialis, levetra on sex days.
I recently went to ER for Afib RVR. Got stabilized. Had every heart test done short of treadmill stress test. Had Ultrasound, xrays, blood tests, clot tests. NOTHING wrong with heart. No heart desease, no probkems other than this arrhythmia thing. First time this ever happened. Im 5’9 220 and baseline build. Overweight. Covid years sucked.
Docs put me on once a day metoprolol 50mg. Seeing cardiologist in three months. At this time they’re not monitoring me and I was discharged from the hospital yesterday.
Today I do not take Cialis or levetra. Are those medication’s safe with metoprolol? Without them I’m basically a wet noodle. The concern from just general google searches is the worried that metoprolol plus cialis or something like it would lower blood pressure too much.
Any advice?

More info is needed, where does your Total T, Free T, estrogen, hematocrit, and hemoglobin currently sit?
Also, blood pressure is expected to increase on TRT, if your body is unable to handle a normal Free T value, which in some cases is why the testosterone declined in the first place.
If you’re overdosed on TRT, this can make matters worse.
One time. It does kill erections and makes my head feel odd. The afib had never happened before that i know of. They think it was heavy coffee intake. I had thought maybe cialis and levitra were the issue. Maybe both? But the hospital Docs never once felt it was TRT or cialis/levetra
Did you ditch metoprolol on your own or as instructed by doctor? Did you have success with metoprolol and cualis?

My TT is generally 800-1000 the day before injection. Free T is around 2.5%. I inject 2.5 times a week. every 3 days. No heart issues, no thyroid issues. Bp before this mess was always around 130/75 territory and sometimes less but that changes as my iron deficiency anemia changes. I get yearly iron infusions. And take iron pills with that but i don’t absorb iron well and i have chronic bleeding hemorrhoids.

Metoprolol sucks. I was on it for several years and had extreme bouts of anxious sweating and ED problems (as a relatively young man in my 30’s). Thought it was me but once a new doctor saw I was on Metoprolol and changed my med, both negative side effects ceased.

I get the sweats too and ive only been on it 3 days. What med did you switch to?

What kind of doctor? Cardiologist or general?
My bp was only super high during the afib event. After normalization its fine and before this i never had issues with bp. It was alwas 130/80 at its most.

Well, my hope is that the cardiologist will lower the dose were put me on something else
By ditching, I assume you tapered off? I’m just reading a lot of google information on how dangerous it is the cold turkey this thing.
You didnt get on another med?
I honestly hope my Doc lowers the med. or even gives me something else.
Glad we found each other. Get off Metoprolol (generalist prescribed, cardiologist removed). Cardiologist put me on Losartan and its been great (zero sides). Lost a few years of my life feeling like a nervous idiot on that crap.
Frankly, I don’t even think you need medication with a high of 130/80 but something mild wouldn’t hurt. For AFIB they usually put you on a baby aspirin for life (stroke prevention in case it happens again). I recently added baby aspirin for good measure.

My cardiologist and nephrologist BOTH like Losartan. Nephrologist says its “kidney protective” (good for AAS) which is confirmed on the web:

Also notice “Hypertension with left ventricular hypertrophy”. I don’t have LVH but…

According to ER and hospital, this seemed like a one tome occurrence and brought on by heavy caffein use. I would drink 5 shots in the morning and 5 more later in the day then cold brew or nitro. This was a life habit. On discharge there was no sense of needing followup from them but to just schedule an appointment with general and cardiologist when possible.
I was given a 90 day supply of 50mg once a day and sent on my way. No coffee, no salt diet.
My blood labs, ultrasound heart test, X-rays were all normal before this started. I honestly dont get why iv been given such a huge dose. Heart is completely fine.

Doesnt Losartan cause ED? Im getting that with metoprolol atm.
Honestly, AFIB is not that uncommon and with that much coffee, COFFEE is the easy cause to diagnose. Chances are you will never have another episode if you moderate the caffeine and stay hydrated (I will venture a guess that you were also dehydrated at the time too).
I would add a baby aspirin and for good measure go see a cardiologist to get the BP checked/evaluated.

Dehydrated yes. I was. Not terribly so but i rarely drink water. Coffee 99%, water 1%.

Not for me (20+ years). Almost all BP meds list that as a possible side.
Your trough levels may be too high for you, I mean your trough levels are basically high normal 24/7. There’s nothing wrong with trough levels closer to midrange. You may even feel better than you do now.

The hemorrhoids can be fixed relatively easily these days.

You drop 20 lbs and your mild BP problems probably go away, too.
