Strong work in here, Matty, I’m looking forward to following the new programming.

I did, and am looking forward to the Block periodization style. Im a little confused as to some of the numbers though, Im assuming the numbers after the weight, sets and reps is the rep effort but then you have a percentage like 7%, what is that?[/quote]
And there are various ways to go about incorporating the fatigue percents from the top work set. The way to build more volume is to drop 7% off the bar directly and do some sets there until the rpe matches the top working set, which will probably 2 or 3 sets at that percent unless the top set was a grinder.
Alternatively, you can work your way down to the 7% (it’s easier on bigger weights of course). Say you’re doing a set of 400 on DL @ 9 RPE as your top set. Drop 15 pounds off the bar do a set or two until the intensity matches the set with 400 and then drop another 15 again and do that until you hit 9 again. Voila, all done.
Thanks dude, this is all very interesting, and totally 100% different than any way I ever trained. Just got the first week sent to me…pretty excited.
Starting to mess with the calculations…Im totally geeking out on this…im excited

Is he still setting stuff up in full-body sessions? I’m interested to see how much he has tweaked his programming.
Not really, He has me benching twice a week as well as squatting and deads twice a week, very little if any assistance. Im not sure if things will change when I enter a different block. I also have 2 GPP days.

Looking forward to reading. Only benching et al once a week on 5/3/1 has me feeling like I’m missing out.

Since you’re on a 4-day plan, that makes sense, but he will probably mix and match a little more as time goes along. Don’t neglect the “GPP” days like I did.

TBH Im a little nervous about deads twice a week, thats gonna be rough

I actually thought of you when I was reading it over, I most definitely will not
Matty,
You are switching to the Tuchschereererer program? I went to the website and it looked like a very challenging math problem presented with weights, very scary and challenging, but the guy is apparently “wicked smaht” and hella strong so good luck. I always look forward to someone trying something new and then writing it up, so I can steal it and call it my own.
By the way, I saw your goals were a 1500 lb total, instead of doing the big 3 why don’t you just curl 1500? It seems a lot easier (for you not me).

L o FUCKIN L…
I wanted to do the 1500 powercurl but they dont offer it in my fed!
Believe me I am horrible at math and not particularly smart I will devoting 2 hours a day to figure out to beginners algebra!

My best advice on all pulling is to stay on the lower end of the RPE range that he specifies for that specific day. Otherwise your lower back will shredded. That advice actually works for the other lifts, too, and affords you the opportunity to get more volume.
Shredded low back…that sounds bad, lol. Good luck with it Matty.

LOL!
RTS TRAINING WEEK 1 DAY 1
Flat Bench x3 @9 RPE (2 sec pause)
Bar x lots
135 x 10
225 x 5
275 x 3 (7 RPE)
315 x 3 (9.5 RPE)
Notes: The 2 sec pause made a big difference, my pause is generally a sec at most
Flat Bench x 3 @9 RPE plus short minis
135 x 10
225 x 3 (6 RPE)
250 x 3 (7 RPE)
260 x 3 (8 RPE)
Notes: I think I could get 2 more reps on the 260, but didnt push it.
JM Press x 12 @9 RPE
90 x 12
135x 12 (6 RPE)
155x 12 (6.5 RPE)
165x 12 (8 RPE)
Notes: I alwats struggle with the form on the JM Press so always shy away from it. The weight is light as I heard Louie Simmons say if your doing a lot of weight you arent JM Pressing, or something to that effect. So I really concentrated on getting the form right, I felt if I went up to say 225 I would basically be close grip benching.
Chins 4x10 (40)
Band Pushdowns - 80 reps
good work- 2 secdond pause benching feels like an eternity right?
Matty- Good luck with the new programming brother. I’m going to have lots of questions about how this compares to what we were doing with Adam but I will give you a couple of weeks to see how you like it before I start hitting you with them.
Hey Dave,
Mike T also has a training manual for sale on his website that explains everything in fairly high detail. I actually started with the manual before deciding to work with him and I made solid progress with it.
