Lift Like a Girl

Work is stressful, I’m behind in shit I need to do for school (like, for example, starting the process to get my student Visa), I’m working long hours because work is stressful (did I mention that?)… my best friend says she hasn’t seen me like this ever before. She’s pretty much doing daily check-ins with me to see if I need help hiding bodies. When I don’t, she invites me over for dinner, to chill, to go to yoga, whatever. I heart her.

I’ve been having pain still in my right pec so have laid off the bench this week. Should bench tomorrow depending…

Monday - Some deadlifts. Wasn’t the smartest move since I pulled heavy Saturday, but I only had an hour before volleyball.

Tuesday - Soccer, then some squats

Wednesday - Yoga

Tonight I’m taking off to overnight fedex my Visa application to my school so they have it by the deadline which is tomorrow (PS. I’m never this disorganized and I hate it). I’m heading to the PL club tomorrow since I have to be nearby-ish in the afternoon (plus have a party to attend in the evening which may leave me too hungover to go in Saturday). Will squat and bench (as long as my chest doesn’t hurt).

Just thought I’d update since everyone seemed so concerned about whether or not I was alive

If I hadn’t seen you Monday night I’d start to wonder if you’d spun off the globe. You’re down the the short strokes for school now and must be getting very excited.

oh man…i hear you on the visa stress…its such a hassle! it makes you instantly frustrated and insane with rage!!! i hope it all works out for you!!! god…international crap is so arduous, they really do make it difficult :frowning:

hope things get all sorted, best of luck!

If it makes you feel better Court, I’m never concerned whether or not you’re alive … I am concerned with who you’ve killed …

Good one. I think I love you.

I think I’m blushing…

I’ll be honest…when I started reading this sentence, I thought you were going somewhere else with it. Thankfully, you’re more polite than I gave you credit for  I heart you bear.

sounds like a busy week for someone whom I thought was joining witness protection,eh.
Im glad you did not kill a hortons worker who served you an unfrothed beverage.

I do know that OB_s drives around with a hack saw, plastic bags, lime and a shovel in her minivan.

Friday @ the club

Didn’t have much of a plan going in besides squatting with bands, so I tagged along with one of the guys and what he was doing after.

Squats
45x10x1
135x5x1
Trying to figure out which weight/band combo to use:
135x3 purple
135x3 double purple
155x3 double purple
155x3 greens
Working sets:
155x3x8 double greens

Front Squats
115x5x1
135x5x5

After seeing all this squat volume, it’s no wonder I’m sore today.

The rest of this was 3 sets of 8-10ish.
Chest supported row (kinda)… keeping arms straight, just pinching shoulder blades together and squeezing
Reverse pec deck
Bicep curls - 3 sets of 7s (7 lower half reps, 7 upper half reps, 7 full reps)…this sucked
Behind the neck pulldowns (focus on squeezing lats)
Calf raises
Goodmornings

I went out for a friend’s birthday last night after this and ended up getting pretty wasted. To the point where I definitely showed up at the club this morning still drunk and smelling of booze even though I’d showered…

Sat @ the club:

Bench
45x10x2
95x5x1
115x3x1 - 2boards
135x3x1 - 2boards
155x2x1 - 3boards

After this last set I realized I was still drunk and the weight felt too heavy to do anything useful.

Sumo Deadlifts from Boxes (just below knee)
135x5x1 (from floor)
185x5x1 (from floor)
From boxes:
225x5x1
275x3x1
315x3x1
365x2x2

Afterwards I hung out, helped wrap some people’s knees, lied down on the bench, talked, wandered aimlessly, offered advice and entertained people with the state I was in. At the end I just did some more bench set up with just the bar… a few sets of 8 or so.

Now it’s time to eat and sleep. Because frankly, last night was a late night.

Oh…I don’t miss that kind of late night! Though I have discovered, now that I no longer drink much, that little or no sleep makes me feel just about as hung over as lots of booze…

Hope you feel tip top later.

Oh really? Why is that? My thread is boring lately haha

Today was a long day… I took my puppy with me and went and helped out at a ball hockey tournament to raise money to put defibrillators in arenas. It’s organized by a family we know through my brother’s hockey. Their only child passed away while playing hockey three years ago last Christmas. My whole family was there watching as he played with my youngest brother. It was a very emotional day and tons of people were out to support, watch and play. I got lots of sun and will pay for it over the next few days.

We then had a family dinner and celebrated both Father’s Day as well as my baby bro’s birthday which is tomorrow. He’s 19. How scary. What’s worse is that my big quarter century is in 10 days. The celebrations for that begin tomorrow night with my volleyball team.

I’m sore as hell. On Friday we also did what I refer to as my ART prescribed ‘upper cuts’ which work the long head of the bicep. I can’t fully straighten my arms. My hammies are also really sore from good mornings. Whine-fest, I know. I’ll be back in the gym Tuesday starting a new bench program, among other things.

What new bench program? Is it just a new cycle or is it something new? I’m always looking for something to help my lame bench.

It’s something new… a few thoughts pulled together from the boys. I’ll be benching every other or every 3rd day depending on my schedule and committments I have to be out of town. I should be pushing a very heavy single the Saturday after Ottawa. Then I’m going back into my shirt weekly until I move.

I’ll be excited to see how it works for you. If it works well, I may hit you up for the details since that’s when I’ll be starting to get going on a new cycle for the fall.

GOOD MORNING VIETCOURTNEY

Last night was a successful day 1 of birthday celebrations. I played volleyball with 3 helium balloons attached in my hair. Oh and I was ‘slightly’ intoxicated as well. My vball team is loads of fun and super sweet considering I only met 4 of them a few weeks ago.

I’ve also just registered a team for the same volleyball tournament I played in last year just after my birthday. So, that weekend (July 3-5th) will mark the end of my birthday celebrations.

This morning I was operating at about half speed and was a little hungover to be honest. Now, I’m feeling good, have some energy back and am squatting and benching tonight. Woohoo!!!
