“The whole thing with Rogan acting like Silva hadn’t fought real competition because he fought in Japan was laughable, and to a real MMA fan totaly insulting.”
Uhhh, Joe Rogan is a huge fan of Silva. He stated that it would be Leben’s toughest challenge yet, by far.
Silva is awesome, but let’s not put a Fedor tag on him yet. He got beat by a tomato can not too long ago, not to mention that awesome submission Chonan caught him with.
This is what happens when you stand up with a world class striker like Silva. His ground game is not super, and this is the only way a mma fighter with mma standing skills has a chance to beat this guy. Same result would happen if a mma fighter would try to box with a world class boxer, i don’t care how good his stand up skills would be, he’d get ktfo. Even a guy with good boxing skills like Pulver would not last with a elite boxer although he did pretty well in boxing against scrubs. Bottom line is if you are facing a elite striker don’t stand with him even if you are a mma fighter with a decent stand-up. I would like to see how Silva would do in Super-league.

I never stated that Rogan thought Silva wasn’t a good fighter, it’s the constant trashing of other federations by UFC comentators that I find realy annoying.
As for Silvia, sure he’s lost a fiew. The “Flying-hurricane-kneebar” that Chonan got him with was awsome. I missed the tomato can fight (maybe I can find it on Youtube). I still think he’s one of the most dominant 185 strikers around right now. I only have to say one thing “Chute Boxe”
I hear you. I think the bad-mouthing of everything not UFC is coming off of a teleprompter and not really Rogan’s personal opinion.
The “tomato can” I was talking about is Takase. Although I think he’s a better fighter than his record, he’s probably about 7-13. It was back in Pride 25 or 26. It’s been a while since I’ve watched the fight.

No shit. Well stated.
He beat the piss out of Lieben, but sometimes all it takes is a solid head shot to toss things up for grabs and end the match.
I am honestly amazed Lieben managed to get up and wander around like he did after the shots he took.
“After I know him out, he’s going to want to go back to Japan where the competition is a little easier.”
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Leben is damn lucky he didn’t go down like that against a Chutebox guy in Pride. His face would’ve been stomped into a little bloody pulp. You could see Silva starting to go for the knees/soccer kicks/stomps but checking himself and backing off.
Yes it was Takase. Triangle choke.
Silva was a middle of the pack fighter in Pride. Pride did not have their 83kg class back then though.
Silva does have those submission losses. He may be the best MW striker the UFC has now. We will see how he does.
