Lewis v Klitschko - Dday Patricia

Die Nadel,

your point about the HWs makes little sense. You have to know how to box. Just because you are big and athletic doesn’t make you a HE fighter. Just ask Michael Grant. And to that end, Lewis is far from athletic. Little footwork, very upright. I think your mixing two schools of thought here.

Weapon X,

Are you kidding me? Tyson would have murdered Flabby Holmes in his heyday. It wouldn’t even been a fight.

However,

I do agree with you about the HWs having a bunch of nobodies though…including Lewis.

We did catch the Mayorga/VForrest fight. Mayorga totally impressed me. Well, in the fight; not afterwards when he began smoking a cigarette during the ringside interview.

Ah yes, DeLaHoya/Mosley: lookin’ forward to that one.

Yes, Mayorga is quite a character. That was funny.

The Kitschkos wouldn’t get half the recognition that they do if they weren’t white.

Wolver…I mean, Loga…er, Weapon X,

You make no sense. No one said Byrd was great! (can’t you read?) Just deserving of a shot. If you look at the rankings and also consider who else Lewis has decided to give shots to, there is but one conclusion. Lewis is ducking Byrd. It is unquestionable.

It is a “money thing”? Yeah, the Kirk Johnson fight was set to bring BILLIONS. That first Rahman fight was a big money maker as well! Botha and Grant, too. Hell, if it was all about money, Lewis would fight Tyson again…and again. Instead, he said that he would never fight Tyson again.

Mayorga gave up smoking for like 6 weeks prior to the fight, so that’s why he lit up in the ring. I am so excited for some of the lighter weight fights later on this year. The only thing that sucks is that I’m on a grad student’s stipend and I don’t know if I can afford the fights. I’m always glad when 1 week after the PPV match, they play it on Showtime/HBO and I get to watch it. Shoot, only 5 years left here in grad school.

JW:

We’re on a budget, too. So, we ain’t gonna be paying for the fight. What we do is immediately log into fightnews.com.

Sometimes HBO/Showtime will telecast the fight later that same night as well as on Sunday.

Patricia,

I want to say that it is on regular HBO and not pay-per-view. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Jason, you’re right. Here’s what’s on fightnews:

The fight’s on HBO. Mayorga/Forrest is too.

Vitali will KO Lewis for sure!!!
Actually I’m just kidding. Usually there’s nothing to lose picking the underdog and if he wins you look like a genius. Seriously though, I give Vitali a shot due to his size and amateur background and because Lewis has been inactive since the Tyson fight. I just think there’s a chance he catches Lewis sleeping.

By the way, it’s awesome to see so many boxing fans on this forum!!!

I’m sick and tired of hearing about Corrie Sanders. Wladimir got sloppy, and got caught. That’s the thing about the fight game, even a nobody has a punchers chance.

Remember Rahman?

I understand your point, ko, but we can’t just ignore the fact that Wlad was battered by a non-entity. He looked dreadful. It won’t be forgotten by boxing fans.

The fight will be live on HBO as will Mayorga/Forrest 2.

Besides, I never pay for PPV fights. It’s never worth it, and HBO always shows a replay exactly one week later. So you can wait a week and see every PPV fight for free. Remember that, the next time you hear about an upcoming PPV fight.

Did anybody catch the Acelino Frietas fight on Showtime??? I no longer have showtime so am not sure what happened. If you haven’t seen him fight, that dude is awesome.

p.s. I’ll be at both Mayorga/Forrest 2 and Mosley/DeLaHoya 2. : )

While Wladi looked real good in some of his fights that Corrie Sanders fight put a few doubts in my mind. After the fight it didn’t look like Wladi was too shooken up though. Maybe he will be able to come back from that fight. I guess we will have to find out. As for Lennox, I think he’s the best boxer of his era and the last 20 years. He may not be the most exciting to watch but he is a skilled boxer.

gd: You are one lucky bastard. I’d love to see those fights in person.

Yeah, as far as paying for PPV’s, I limit myself to one per year and catch the replays of the rest. I need the excitement of a live megafight at least once. In the last two years, I’ve chosen Hopkins v. Trinidad and De La Hoya v. Vargas. Good investments. Those were fun fights.

No shit. GD, I’m jealous. Extremely.

CMC,

those were damn good fights…you obviously know how to pick your PPV well.

One of the greatest “boxing” moments of my life was attending the beating of Naseem “Prince” Hammed by Marco Antonio Barrera at the MGM in Vegas. I can not put this fight into words. First of all we damn near front row seats. It was like I could see the expressions on the fighters’ faces. Then, the entire arena was screaming “Barerra Barrera.” the whole time. It was hell of exciting. To top it off, Barerra beat the shit out of him. One of the best fights I’ve ever seen or been to…period.

It really is true,no matter who Lewis beats he will never be accepted as the true fighter he is.
He will spank this guy on Sat night inside 5 rounds no worries.
