Could be worse. He could be spotting gymbros while wearing something as fucking ridiculous as what that kid had on.

500 is nothing buta peanut

i can’t tell if it are squat briefs he is wearing or just really short spandex pants.
Either way he dresses like a total douchebag

Honest to god I nearly spat out my breakfast when the kid showed up wearing hot-pants

I didn’t finish the video as for some reason it’s loading very very slowly for me, but I don’t think it was very fair to make him do that many reps at 225 if we’re testing the kid’s ability to do 500.

Also, for 20 years I thought Kevin Levrone’s name had a silent E on the end.

Me, too.

That just sounded weird.

I don’t know why Kevin felt the need to do that. The kid made it very clear that when he squats in the 5’s it’s just for fun. JUST FOR FUN!!!

I fucking love you. no homo

I think (assuming this wasn’t staged as Rock said) Levrone wanted to knock the kid’s ego down a few notches. The video really seemed like it was about showing the kid his weaknesses. Obviously 4x20 squats is not the only way to build legs. This was about humility more than anything. The ‘just for fun’ bit was pretty ridiculous, and very revealing about the kid’s attitude. Who knows what conversations were had before the video was shot that made Levrone want to do this.

This.

Besides, the kid is only 17 and is doing pretty good at that age. Hopefully he learned something from Kev Lev and will carry that into the future as he matures and grows.

Turn a fail into a life lesson.

No one else saw “just for fun” as a joke?

You all never walk up to top sets and tell the dude next to you “ahh its playtime”?

That’s what I got from his comment.

Sure. Like Ronnie’s ‘lightweight’ or ‘nothin but a peanut’. But the kid’s not about to do a set, he’s bragging about his awesomeness before he’s even lifting. I dunno, you can take different things from that, to me the fact that he wanted to start posing as soon as he saw Levrone tells me why Levrone thought he needed a bit of a reality check.

Nothing wrong with cockiness in my book, I just think Levrone was showing him a different side of bodybuilding. Who knows, maybe Levrone thought this kid has potential, and wanted to give him some extra drive to push outside his comfort zone.

Eh

Posing isn’t a bad thing imo. I do it as part of my gym psychology. Maybe he does the same thing where he “sees the finished product” and puts himself in that body to train in. There are all kinds of reasons why he could have flexed.

Who really knows what the real situation was though.

The kid wasn’t talking back which leads me to believe he isn’t as much of an asshole as all of you want him to be.

If anything to me at least it looks like a “has been” trying to stay “in the loops” or “relevant” by punking a newb. I had a bad taste in my mouth during the whole vid. No disrespect at all to him. Just a bad look from where I’m sittiin

Rock: pretty much agree with all that. My posts were more about what I think Levrone was trying to present in the video, rather than what I believe about training, ego, or any of that. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with the kid at all. The dude’s obviously put in work at the gym, and he’s young.

Nothing wrong with the flexing, posing, that whole thing. And he listened and learned from the session. But yea, every time Levrone looked at the camera, he came off as just an asshole. Whatevs. Either way I enjoyed watching the session, a lot of pain going on there. There’s absolutely nothing like high rep squats. I feel like I got a contact high just from watching.

I took the “just for fun” statement as, “Oh shit, he might call me on this and I’m not going to be able to do 500 for reps with any kind of respectable depth.”

Haha fair enough

When’s your next leg day? You better hit 4 sets of 20 on squats.
