Let's Talk South Carolina

Also; I don’t think that it’s so much a worry by the opposition; but more something that can become a tough thing for Romney to defend since a major part of his platform is as a “job creator”.

Again; if he doesn’t clearly define what his company did (or didn’t do); his opposition will. (And you can bet that it won’t be positive!)

Ironically, Newt has provided the “blueprint” for attacking Romney’s job creation claims.

Mufasa
Gingrich provided nothing but a mean spirited attack on Romney which backfired when Romney turned the tables on him about his own PAC lying. “And can you do anything about that” Romney said. Newt’s reply…“no”.

Romney pointed out four very large businesses that that hired over 120,000 people because of his involvement. He defended his role in Bane quite well.

By the way for you Ron Paul zealots that 120,000 people figure is over twice the people that voted for Paul in his tiny district.

And when was the last time a Congressman became President? James Garfield 1881! But yeah I’m sure Paul will change all that with is absolutely CRAZY foreign policy positions. Ha!

Perry had a good night, but as they say too little too late. He will be gone after SC.

Santorum is always steady, and he did well too.

Sorry fellers, after watching the Myrtle Beach debate I can honestly say Romney does NOT impress me enough to get my vote. All of the others, and that includes Paul, did a much better job than he did.

He particularly lost me on his gun control answers.
Yep, on gun control. Did you Romney’s answer on his tax returns? I cringed! With Newt’s on Thursday, I believe they all will have released them (I think). And he’s a maybe, by April? Red flag. Big Red flag. The GoP won’t be able to fire it’s nominee if a big stinker comes out with that maybe, possible, if at all release so late.
The following candidates did not release their tax returns until a few months BEFORE the general election:

George Bush Sr.

John Kerry

Jimmy Carter

Ronald Reagan

Gerald Ford

Did they have anything to hide? No, it’s just that it is not done in most cases until after the primary season. What the other candidates are trying to do in pushing for Romney’s tax release early is make political hay out of the fact that he’s worth more than all of them put together including Obama. Once the documents are out they become political fodder for those who are now desperate enough to attack capitalism.

I hope Mitt holds tight and doesn’t release them until after he’s dispatched the other candidates which as I predicted weeks ago will be right after Florida. Last nights debate was one of the last that you see. This thing is just about over!

The Romney train is not going to get derailed Sloth. Romney is going to be the republican nominee. You can either vote for Obama, or help Obama another way by staying home. It’s up to you how you want ot help him.

DNC already got the ad up.
Mufasa wrote:
What is it exactly that you want to know, Sloth?

That Romney is rich?

That Romney is VERY rich?

That Romney is STINKIN" rich OR

“This guys is freakin’ loaded to the GILLS”!

Take your pick.

Mufasa
Everything the other candidates are up front about.

Best moment of last night’s debate?

Sloth,

Did you refute my point about candidates traditionally not showing their taxes until after the primary season? And that this is a ploy to make Romney’s wealth an issue?

No I guess not.

But yeah that’s a slick video that Gingrich helped the democrats with.

The others are/have in the season. Did you see him squirm?! Holy smokes!

Once again why is it that all of a sudden this year candidates must release their taxes BEFORE the primary season has ended?

To cause Romney to look like an elitist because he is wealthy should be your answer. And that is a really great tactic for an anit capitalist to take. Obama and Gingrich working together just as Gingrich worked with Pelosi on…HA of all things GLOBAL WARMING!

This is good stuff – Newt sold his soul to the DNC in order to defeat Romney. And the funniest part is that when it’s all said and done Romney will be the nominee and Newt better hope Romney wins because if he doesn’t guess who gets the blame? Gingrich will be ostracized from the republican party.

He’s not afraid that his tax returns would show him to be wealthy…Everyone already knows he’s uber wealthy. Newt will do just fine for himself, afterwards. He managed a standing O last night. When Romney loses, the people will blame the establishment and punditry for not delving into just how tone-deaf, and weak the Romney campaign was. Romney is the Obama team’s dream candidate. Did you hear that uncomfortable near silence with Romney’s tax dodge? I cringed, I was so embarrassed for him! Well, when he loses, at least he’ll have plenty of varmint hunting time.

Anyways, while I’m pulling for Santorum, I would only claim that he was 2nd best in last night’s debate. A distant second. Gingrich owned the show without a doubt.

You do know Romney has actually stated his belief in man-made global warming, right?

I’m sure he said the opposite somewhere else so just choose whichever Romney you prefer and vote for that one.

Funny how that works Push, a candidate, just like a fighter, always looks better when they’re actually standing toe to toe with one man and not four jumping all over them.

Considering that every opponent on the stage with the exception of Ron Paul (there’s a deal) attacked him I think he did just fine. The other candidates had nothing to lose as they are all going to lose the SC primary. Romney had a lead to protect and he did a great job doing it. He was cool under fire and spat out coherent answers with a beginning middle and an end. That’s more than I can say for other candidates on stage last night.

And in a one on one debate Romney will eat Obama’s lunch!
if you keep up with libertarian news there is a rumor going around that Romney will select Rand Paul as VP.

Gingrich can’t wait to murder Muslims.

Did you know he was an historian?

That is not as big an issue is how they will be picked apart and made to look bad even if there isn’t anything bad in them (um …that’s how the game is played you know?). THAT is the only chance that sub candidates like Gingrich have of defeating Romney. Pretty sad when your only opportunity to defeat someone is to try to make them look bad based on trying to pick apart their tax return. Gingrich is a disgrace to the republican party and to capitalism. What happened to his issue oriented campaign? Oh that’s right he lost on the issues now it’s time to try to win because you are worth less than your opponent and you can somehow mischaracterize his tax return. Some republican! Some capitalist! Newt Gingrich is a bad joke!

That’s is a false blanket statement based on what? Nothing. He thrives on respect and being part of the republican party. He will be OUT after this election should Romney lose to Obama.

So did Ron Paul I guess it was a good night for crazy old men who have no chance to become President

You’re projecting again Sloth. How do you know that his campaign is going to be weak? Do you think it will be as weak as the one that won him both Iowa and New Hampshire? As weak the one that is winning him the republican nomination? Winnning him the nomination over other more conservative candidates during a time when half the party is screaming for red meat conservatism? You mean that kind of “weak” campaign? LOL…

Romney is the last guy that Obama wants to face. The entire country knows that and every poll taken indicates that Romney stands the best chance of beating Obama. Do you think the Obama people don’t look at the polls? the only one who can beat Obama is Romney. Democrats know it republicans know it. And even many conservatives know it and that’s why many have endorsed Romney and many more will over the next two weeks. Seems like you are in a very small group of people who think Romney is the worst of the bunch to face Obama. Now could that have less to do with facts and more to do with the fact that you don’t like Romney? Uh huh…
apbt55 wrote:

If that is true it is only to discredit the movement.

Rand Paul would do best to turn any offer from the political establishment down.

And I’d vote for either Gingrich or Santorum over the ineffectual catastrophe that currently occupies 1600 Pennsylvania ave.

Soooo, we should all wait to see how bad his tax returns can be picked apart after it’s too late to pick another candidate…If he can’t defend them now, he won’t be able to defend them then.
ZEB wrote:
…think it will be as weak as the one that won him both Iowa and New Hampshire?
Far weaker. Romney will probably win this off of sheer money advantage. He won’t have that with Obama. What’s then left for him? Principled substance? Romney?!
ZEB wrote:

What happened to it? 4.5 million in attack ads. 96% off all attack ads aimed at one man. Reminds me, Romney’s folks had the positive Romney ad, followed by the attack ads against Newt and Santorum, going darn near every break during the debate, it seemed. Also, attacking from the left served Romney when he went after Perry early in this cycle over Social Security.
So did Ron Paul I guess it was a good night for crazy old men who have no chance to become President
Actually, only Gingrich got the standing ovation. It was highly commented on afterwords. Paul got heavily booed. And Gingrich shredded his Chinese dissident in the US/terrorist in Pakistan analogy, drawing another stirring round of applause. Gingrich isn’t done by a long shot. In the end, he may not be the nominee. But he’s the one firing up the base.
Romney is the last guy that Obama wants to face.
Oh please, Ron Paul is in a statistical tie with man, last time I checked. Romney though is exactly the guy Obama’s team wants. I’ll be here to remind to you I said as much.
