Let's talk about calcium

Boxer Al… good plan to time your tums as described. I just used to work with a guy that snacked on those thigns throughout the whole day.

Eric… I was not trying to imply that a high protein diet robs the body of calcium. My (perhaps poorly presented) point was that extra supplementation of calcium may be necessary even if you take in a lot of dairy products - because I was under the impression that the protein in the dairy products used the calcium in those dairy products during digestion, leaving the dairy eater with a net calcium gain that is significantly lower than they think.

Again, please do your own research on this as I do not remember the exact sources of this information.

I second Mike Mahler on the coral calcium. I have had such good results with it that I don’t feel the need to take enzymes for any inflammation anymore despite starting a cycle and of course training much harder.

Something I’ve noticed. When take ZMA at the recommended dosage I dream like crazy. Wake up more often in the night and am not completely rested in the morning. My wife takes a Wal-mart brand of Calcium/Magnesium/Zinc it is the supposedly less absorbable form of Mag & Zinc. A while back I was out of ZMA so took some of her pills. Same dosage as the ZMA but w/calcium. I might be a freak but I’ve used the cheapies for a month or more and sleep w/less dreaming, less waking up and feel rested in the morning. Goes against what I’ve heard, but it works. I challenge people to give it a try for a couple of weeks before flaming me. My experience for what its worth! I’m a 25 yr.old male.

LW - Less dreaming is not a good sign. Dreaming means REM sleep and REM sleep is the replenishing sleep you need to function. No REM is bad news.

yeah, I agree with the coral calcium. Taking this product and reading the Calcium Factor by Bob Barefoot have been an amazing experience for me, very educational

I ran a search on Coral calcium and there are heaps of companies selling this product with each claiming its product to be the best. Can you tell me where you got your coral calcium and what are the characteristics of the quality stuff? Thanks

I’ve just completed a vitamin/mineral intake schedule based on info contained in a book recommended from the authors of this site called ‘The real vitamin & mineral book’ by Shari Lieberman & Nancy Bruning. After working out my requirements I compared five different V&M company products that offer the best bang for the buck. Despite what people think of Twinlab ‘supplements’ in general, their core V&M products would rate the most potent that I’ve come accross to date. This book real blows RDI’s for V&M’s out of the water. Good luck.

I’ve also been taking coral calcium with great results. Sometimes my schedule doesn’t allow me to get to an ARt practitioner for treatments. I’ve been having a rough time this year with some nagging shoulder pain in the ac joint(sprained it rolling over on it in bed). ART helped, but I couldn’t get there regularly.
After two months on the coral calcium, the pain is down to next to nothing. I’m even training westside again.
I ordered it off the internet. I think the cost was about 80$ for three months. well worth it. By the way, I also tried wobenyme and got zip results.

I flip-flop between Herbalab and Source Natural’s versions. I love’em both.

Thanks for the recommendation!

coral calcium isthe first and only supplement to effectively relieve chronic joint pain… in my case knees that prevented me from doing squats etc… for one year(!) until doing coral for 10 days and was pain free. I now am on a full lower body program again. I get a little residual pain which disappears in 2 days.Read about the many benefits of coral calcium the basic one being alkalizing an acid system allowing the body to heal itself.Buy ‘Natures Benefit’ calcium from DPS…it’s also available in bulk form.
