Let's Cut the BS and Talk Abs

I never do cruches laying down or on a bench. I use the lat pulldown tower.
I like these too, but I’ve gotten to a point where when I get half way down I loose traction because I don’t weight enough. Has anyone else had this problem?

Eat more food and stop worrying aobut your damn abs. And I also dont believe you. I go up to 70lbs and its somewhat challenging. I dont see how its possible that you do more than your bodyweight.

It means he’s leaning forward significantly using his bodyweight to offset it rather than strictly curling at the abs. Thats what happens a lot if you do kneeling ab cable curls but seated it shouldn’t happen.

I’ve done over 200 lb kneeling but on a seated ab machine or cable curl its anywhere from 70-90.

How do you guys progress on the ab wheel roll outs?

Non-tripod…anyone?

so nobody does the pallof press? i think it is a simple and convenient exercise and a few heavy sets will tear my abs up. after three sets i do three sets of leg raises.

i also started using the ab wheel, on another day than the other exercises. i did not start rollouts earlier because i only like weighted exercises because the progression is infinite then. i replaced the decline crunch because it makes my quads sore. and in the inside the muscles article, the ab rollout causes a very intense contraction.

I have heard about sprinting for quad development as well. What do you guys mean by sprinting? starting from a complete stop (like athlete about to take off) and take off as fast as you can, take a couple strides and stop, or just run as fast as you can for like 200 yards?

I am interested in starting sprints for ab/quad development and to stay in shape. Also, do you think sprints burn too many calories to be doing if I am trying to add muscle?

I do interval sprinting (e.g. 10 secs sprinting, 50 secs walking) and do this for 10-25 mins a time.

Some people like CT also like 400m sprinting.

I believe that HIIT done once/twice a week is good on a bulk (depending on metabolism/how much you workout each week). Those who are weight training in the gym 24/7 can “get away” with no cardio during a bulk…but I always think that those who aren’t as active really do benefit from cardio like sprinting while bulking (makes the muscle to fat gaining ratio better…thus allowing you to bulk “cleaner” and for longer).

Leo Ingram barely has abs visible even when at 3% body fat.

It is all about the depth of tendon attachment.

Abs at 20+% body fat.

Imagine what this guy would look like dieted down with tendons that deep.

For those of you utilizing the ab wheel, how low do you go? Stomach to ground?
This article helped me to progress - a lot. I fell back on my lower back too much (literally), so I did a set of hyperextensions beforehand to even the playing field, as it were.

Glad to help!

I dont exactly have great abs, but i do crunches like arnold, you flex when you get up, and i keep my head facing as far up as i can, it really burns when i do them, and it works pretty good, but my body fats a bit higher than it should be.
