Lets Arm The Teachers...

But why stop there.

Lets arm drivers.

Lets arm politicians also. Who needs bodyguards when they’re packing?

Everybody in Congress should be armed to the teeth.

It will make the world a safer place, won’t it?

Better than outlawing guns so that only the lawbreakers have them.

I think a lot of Americans are faaar ahead of you on that issue…

Guns aren’t the problem. Idiots are. So far, the best we’ve been able to do to separate the idiots from people who are responsible enough to be trusted with a firearm is to check police records for felonies.

And that’s gonna have to be good enough, guys. Our personal liberty is worth more to us than some false sense of security from passing gun control laws.

Or is it?

I have taught in the inner city of Cleveland. It probably would be a good idea for teachers to wear body armor.

I left that HS at the end of the school year when a teacher was stabbed (requiring over a hundred stiches).

No, idiots with guns are.

Right. I can imagine the idiots with guns now, “I fully intend intend to break the law with a gun, proving that I don’t care whether something is legal. Though, I’ve decided not to buy a gun. Guns are illegal!”

Couldn’t this be compared to our country’s laws on drugs? People who will use them can find them if they put in some effort, while people who wouldn’t break the law with one wouldn’t buy them.

Also, is your reason honestly just that they should be banned because some idiots abuse them? How do you feel about cars?

Why don’t we get rid of the Internet? There are many more cases of identity theft than there are of gun deaths. The Internet can even be abused in other ways. For example, child porn. Won’t you think of the children?

I teach in NYC. Arming teachers would be horribly stupid. Either one of the teachers would shoot someone or a student would steal the gun and shoot someone themselves.

Though cars kill people, they are not built to kill people. They are designed to move people and/or cargo around. This can lead to people being killed, but that would be an accident.

Guns are build to propel small lead objects into a given direction. That is their only purpose. You can use them as a hammer or a paperweight, but that’s not what they are built for.
So you either shoot targets, animals or people with them.

Can you imagine that the idiot involved in the school shoting premeditated his attack and went out to buy a gun with the purpose to shoot those children? I think he went balastic and just happened to have a gun.
Do you think he bought the gun illegally? I think he bought it legally.
So that school shooting could have been avoided. You know it could have.

That’s not what this republican pig lying whore…

Sorry Lothario, I’ll be nice.

That’s not what this Republican representative wants you think. He wants you to think the world would be safer with more people had guns.

I know he’s lying, that’s not really what he thinks. What he thinks is this: fuck them for having their kids shot. As long as I can take my kick-backs from the NRA, that’s all that matters to me.

And I have proof.

If he really thought the world would be a safer place with more guns, he would lay off his bodyguards and carry a gun. He wouldn’t post guards and metal detectors at Congress or at the White House. He would invite in every cowboy with a sidearm.

If it makes the world safer, why wouldn’t it make Congress and the White House safer?

But he doesn’t. He wants more guns sold, just not around him.

Good post.

I wonder what Ohio teachers think off this.

Wreckless:

I carry a Glock 17. Some of my contracts can be in bad neighborhoods. I am in less danger of being hurt or killed by some crackhead just because of the Glock.

More guns to the right people in appropriate circumstances means we can almost do away with law enforcement. In theory.

In reality, the guns tend to be in the hands of the bad guys and not the victims because folks think that cops have magic powers or that nothing bad like a mugging or rape could ever happen to them, so they don’t prepare for the worst.

That being said, arming the teachers with guns wouldn’t be appropriate. Making sure they know how to use body language and are trained in techniques to diffuse hostility, defend themselves when attacked, and aren’t pussies if they work in hostile areas IS appropriate.

Well, I can say safely that if the Nazis invaded the USA, our armed citizenry would resist far more manfully and effectively, than Belgium’s comical capitulation.

Of course, I suspect cowardice and half-cooperation would be better than actually becoming Nazis, manning the SS divisions, and firing up the camp ovens, eh Orion?

You dipshits can only make fun of our gun problems because at the end of the day our gun-toting citizens will keep the strongmen out of your houses: as we did with the Kaiser, as we did with the Nazis, as we did with the Communists… It infuriates you to know that our balls are infintely bigger than yours, and we don’t need to treat ourselves like children to prevent an annual outbreak of Holocaust.

We have criminal outbreaks and a few people die, you have criminal outbreaks and you put those people in charge of your country (Willhelm, Hitler, Leopold) and dozens of millions die.

I like our way better, and best of all, since our local traffic police could beat your combined militaries, you’re in no position to impose your will anyhow!

Funny stuff.

I do see an inferiority complex from many of our European friends here. Way to make it worse!

Yeah yeah yeah, on internet, everybody is a hero.

I never put any Wilhelm, Hitler or Leopold in charge of any country.

But you put that criminal Bush “I’m loosing two wars at once” in charge, and now 600.000 died.

Yes, we’re worried that we don’t have your level of gun violence.

Also, we’re lagging in school shootings.

We toss and turn at night, looking for ways to catch up with you guys.

I will take the occassional school shooting over European style ethnic cleansing and Holocaust.

It was fun watching you rip Wreckless a new one that a 747 could fly through! I salute the Master!!

Americans have never been guilty of any ethnic cleasning have they? Oops were did all those Native Americans go to?

Sorry pal. I will not take responsibility for things that happened generations ago. No one is still alive from that period.

Holocaust survivors are still around. The latest round of European ethnic cleansing was very recent.

Wreckless, I have to ask, why are you so interested in America? I could give a fuck about what happens in Belgium. Maybe it’s because that we Americans enjoy more freedom (right to self defense) than those of you across the pond?
