Legs in 531 BBB

How come in 531 BBB Jim only recommends to do core and push and pull without recommending leg assistance yet the legs still grow a lot based on peoples’ experiences of running bbb. Why does bench and ohp get a lot of assistance with the push but legs don’t and they still grow as much? Most programs would have more volume then just doing squats once a week as their quad exercise.

After 8 sets of squats, 5 of which are sets of 10, most people’s legs are cooked.

Leg day once a week has a decades long history of growing legs. And it also allows the legs to be fresh for the conditioning work of 5/3/1.

Yes that is true. I am probably overthinking that training legs once a week wouldn’t be as optimal as twice a week or more

This has been my observation.

One of the most effective programs I’ve ever run had me training squats once every 14 days. It was 10x10 squats. I needed 13 days to recover from it.

Do you recommend instead of doing leg curls twice a week and abs twice a week to swap to abs 4 times a week, which is what Jim recommends I think as he says he only recommends ab work for the sl/core section in BBB.

I don’t recommend anything, as I’m not a coach. However, are you sure it’s AB work and not CORE work that he recommends?

I’m a big fan of reverse hyperextensions. For hamstring work, I’d rather do GHRs than hamstring curls. That said, 5x10 deads are going to hammer the hamstrings pretty damn fierce as it is.

I like the prowler for an added dose of single leg work. It’s conditioning, but it’s also lower body volume.

He says “The only thing I recommend from this category during BBB is abdominal work.”
The prowler is a good idea for conditioning
