Legality of Insulin?

So reading Anthony Robert’s write up on Insulin, he states that Humulin-R, is a legal OTC insulin. Since insulin needs refrigerated, I’m guessing that anyone could pay a visit to a pharmacy and request it without a prescription? How do you approach the pharmacist on this one? “Hey I need some Humulin-R insulin LOLOLOLOL!!!1” ?! Huh?

Exactly…Just ask for it

Make sure you know what kind you are looking for, what dosages a diabetic would take, don’t wear you Testosterone t-shirt, and perhaps buy some syringes at the same time. You may also try getting a girl to ask for you or a diabetic looking friend or tell them you are on vacation, visiting relatives etc, and dropped your bottle on your travels.

Supposedly they have an emergence prescription sheet that they may fill out in case of accidents like yours.

By the way, what are the dosages that a diabetic would normally take?

All you have to do is ask for it. A friend of mine went and grabbed two multi dose vials from shoppers less than a week ago.

I cant stress this enough, make sure you know what you are doing with it before you try it. Do your research and when you think you know enough do some more. Not trying to sound like a preacher here, but it can put you to sleep and you may not wake up.

I’ve never personally had anyone buy it from me OTC, but you should just go in and ask for it straight up. A vial should have 10 ml in it with 100 units of insulin per ml. Like someone else said you might want to get some syringes too.

There is really no typical dose of insulin for a diabetic, as everyone has different needs, but most patients would probably use between 15 and 60 units per day give or take.

I asked once what the price ran on a bottle of Humilin-R at CVS and he told me $40 then asked me if I wanted it. It’s that easy. I buy syringes and slin pins all the time for IGF-1 and nobody gives 2 shits. I honestly doubt most pharmacists would even know it’s bodybuilding applications.

yeah i agree that even the most wary pharmacist wont be hip to the fact that bodybuilders use insulin to further their efforts, however, most diabetics would be using humulin-r in a sliding scale application. for example lets say said diabetic was using humulin-n at a dose of 40 units in the AM and 25 units in the PM, and lets further suppose that upon checking their blood sugar 1 hour after the midday meal, they found it to be 400. most sliding scales that an endocrinologist would write out would look something like this…B.S 200-250 2units hum-r, BS 251-300 4UNITS HUM-R, BS 301-350 hum-r 6units…and so on and so forth. not many diabetics use only the fast acting regular insulin. thats just my two cents worth for any interested parties.

I know this is an old thread, but I was wondering if this still holds true today. With all the new drugs getting banned and taken off the market is this form of insulin still legal. If so then I would assume that customs would be unable to do anything about seized orders that contained only humulin.

Come now, it’s just insulin. As far as the general public is concerned, only a diabetic would be interested in it, and believe it or not, diabetics come in all shapes and sizes: A 5’2" 95lb female, or a 6’ 265lb beast.

I’ve come up to the counter dripping with sweat with chalk on my hands, they won’t deny it to you. It’s completely legal, even today.

Thanks Control,
I just wanted to double check.
