Leg Training (general observation) ? geared towards Coach Davies

As a college athlete who uses weight training to become a better (athlete). I have observed that high rep leg training is useless for sport specific training but great for hypertropy and bodybuilding. Am i correct in saying that the best leg training exerscices (squats and box -squats) are best done in the rep range of 1-6. Just wondering your guys thoughts?

I guess first of all you need to understand that everything has it’s time and its season. In fact I do keep my rep range of Squat generally within a 3-6 range. However that is also misleading of intensity level and exercise selection that involves leg development. As an athlete you should also consider other work for legs. This includes but is not limited to such things as hip mobility work (such as hurdle movements, tumbling drills), plyometric’s, weighted and non-weighted GPP, power-speed drills, agility and linear speed training as well as other weighted movements. I look forward to being of assistance. In faith, Coach Davies

This depends on your sport. For example, a running back would do better with lower reps while an athlete who runs the 400m would probably do better with higher reps.

I’d say that’s a good rep range, but keep the weight a bit lighter. Instead of using a 1RM-6RM weight, use a weight 15-20lbs lighter & try to lift it really quickly.
