Leg Day is for you Ambulating Fools

He did a nice write up in hos log about his last comp. He has a pretty low tolerance for bullshit on here so he just pops in and out…lol

Hey man, you’re a talented craftsman! I admire your work. I also have a homemade row bench very similar to yours; what did you use for the padding?

2" Rebond Foam

Or you could use carpet padding and glue 3 or 4 layers together.

@corstijeir I know you are powerlifter, but you are really great at spotting things in a form check. You really helped me with my bench. Thank you! You see anything that stands out here?

@One_Two I’d probably push the log a bit further back over my head. Seems to still be slightly out in front stressing the front delts a lot more than they should be.

Thanks man. I’ll give it a shot this Sunday.

I’m curious how out in front I was pushing it before then. A 200# front raise sounds pretty bad ass, though a horribly inefficient way to press

@timber Thanks bud. I’m going to give 'em hell

Push 2
Had a frustrating day at Job #1. Couple people that have been slowly pissing me off all came to a head today. Probably end up having a meeting with the owner tomorrow, but at this point I don’t care.
Blew off some steam with the training session. I do miss my heavy bag some days.

Bench Press
225 X 6 (102kg)
240 X 6 (108.5kg)
295 X 6 +1+1+1 (133.5kg) The ugly rep fest continues. 35-40 sec rest between clusters

Seated Dumbbell Press
R - 90 X 11 (All time Rep Pr), 90 X 7 (40.5kg)
L - 90 X 6 (Tie Rep PR), 90 X 5
Shoulders were cooked so only did two sets.

Close Grip Bench Press
Some asshole left 295 on the bar. I saw the 35 and 45 from the side and forgot all about that other 45 behind them…

295 X 1 - (That was heavy) (133.5kg)
205 X 16 - 90 sec rest (93 kg)
205 X 12 - 90 sec rest
205 X 10

Was very wore out. Plopped down in a recliner and didn’t move for a while.

did you compete at the big tex winter rumble event last january? You look familiar. What part of Texas are you in?

Kick some ass at the Arnold, man! I might see you there, think I’m gonna book tickets today.

I did. I was the one who made all the equipment for the disabled division. I figured out who you were afterwards form one of your posts about Mike
I thought it was pretty funny that before every event I showed how to do it, told the judges how to judge it then competed… And I still didn’t end up in first.

I was also in a people are awesome video back in 2017, which random people somehow recognize me from.

I’m northwest Of DFW in Wise County.

oh, and I’m curious about what you made. Do you have a company that does that sort of thing, or is it like just stuff you do in your own garage? I own a metal fabrication company in Garland, I’ve fixed a lot of stuff for Metroflex Plano, and made a few implements myself!

I made the power rack for the OHP, the husafell stone and the platforms for the kegs and sand bags for the Big Tex. I have something a step above the average garage but well beneath an actual metal shop. My dad’s company makes and installs pallet racking and shelving.

I had my own company doing wood work for a couple of years, but it was to much paper work for me so went back to working for the man.

You wouldn’t happen to be J & A would you? I worked with a guy who said he welded for them for a bit.

I’ve made everything in my gym expect the pull down machine I currently have. Though I did make two before, but could never get them to come out the way I wanted. I’ve also made 2 power racks, row bench, dip bars, pull up bar, made a car dead lift frame once, Hercules hold, another much worse power rack which has probably been resmelted in china by now. 2,3 & 4" axle, Football bar, zig zag bar, and a preacher curl bench.
