Really? There was nothing wrong there, he threw his shit on the floor like every NBA player does. The media always makes something out of nothing because they know people will get all hyped up about it.

I guarantee if any of us (myself-included) were under the microscope that athletes/celebrities are, that the media could easily find ways to make us look like dicks. Very few people live like angles 24/7.

Please stop this nonsense. So when the article are flattering, like speaking of charitable efforts - which by the way are necessary tax deductions for the very wealthy, then the media can be trusted. But when they are critical, we have to look with a jaundiced eye?

I don’t believe everything I read. However, when you keep reading the same theme, under different scenarios, it’s time to start accepting perhaps there is at least a kernel of truth to it.

Like I said, and everyone seems to be ignoring this. Compare his public image to MJ, who was very flawed in her personal life. There is no comparison. One was a hero, LB a villain. And believe me, he’s not built to be the villain. At every turn, you can see his defensiveness betray him being butt hurt about the negative attention.

So again, shut the fuck up and play basketball. And get some decent PR people around you to teach you how and when to shut the fuck up.

And Kobe:

Your right that I don’t like him, he’s not a player that I go out of my way to follow, but I don’t hate him either. As you can see I prefer Durant or Curry, but I think Lebron has done just fine all things considered.
Yeah, we’re on the same page for the most part. I just thought it was weird that you quoted my post to say I was jealous after I already said there are much better public figures to hate and that I was merely disappointed in James.
therajraj wrote:

No way that was intentional. There was a towel on the ground and while walking he half heartedly tossed it to the side. He didn’t try to hit that woman.

And the LeBron one just looked like some minor miscommunication.

[Not a big fan of judging public figures on such short clips at all, they have bad days like the rest of us. Just thought I’d comment on these ones.]

LOL yeah, it’s just funny.

C’mon don’t you think it’s unfair to judge him s harshly when you’ve never even met the guy in person. Professional athletes in general tend to be flawed as witnessed by the numerous incidents they’ve been involved in, usually after their careers (ie. Charles Barkley, Jayson Williams etc). LeBron is just very candid and people are seeing those flaws in live time.

Randman mentioned in before in the nba thread, LeBron is 25 so I think he’s got a lot of time to ‘grow up.’

I said the media isn’t a reliable source, and I agree that it goes both ways.

I get where you’re coming from, but people take things WAAAY too far. The hour-long special was definitely ridiculous, but for all that I know ESPN had more of a hand in deciding to do it than LeBron himself… I mean think about the ratings.

Plus the media has mainly villianized LBJ which subconsciously puts people in a similar mentality.

Keep in mind I am NO fan of LeBron in any way, shape, or form. But to make an entire thread about hating on him?

…it’s a little much, and it’s silly. I would have done that in middle school probably.
You do realize that “The Decision” was entirely James idea right? He and his handlers pitched the idea, and ESPN wisely jumped on it. The guy is a world class jerkoff.
TheBodyGuard wrote:
Personally I don’t care what he does. I just can’t help but to view his recent moves as a train wreck coming from a guy that could have had the world eating out of his hand. The Decision. Bad move. Hiring your best friend to run a multi-million dollar corporation with hopes to reach a billion? Bad move. The laser show and dancing in Miami when humility was more in order? Bad move. Quitting last year in playoffs? Bad move. Returning to Cleveland this year and not just shutting up and playing ball? Bad move. The Nike commercial? Ridiculous. Claiming racism was behind all the criticism of the “decision”? Utterly stupid. Where was the racism when you were a media darling?

Want to blame the media? Bullshit. The media crowned him. He just hasn’t lived up to it and they are fairly calling him on it. Believe me, I don’t “care so much”. I played basketball at a high level and I barely, rarely even watch basketball today. I don’t care. I’m commenting on the waste of a public image that could have shitted platinum turds.

He should fire his best friend and hire me. Pay me and I’ll tell him simply, “shut your fucking mouth and play basketball”. If he did that, and won, all will be forgiven. Like I said, MJ had many personal flaws and was still loved, because they handled his image EXPERTLY.
I also want to point out that Jordan EARNED the hype he was given. He came into the league being questioned by Rod Thorne [the then Bulls gm] about his offensive prowess. he went on to average 28 a game as a fucking rookie. Eveything Jordan ever got, he worked for. James has been handed everything his entire life. Cavs management bent over backwards to bring him what he asked for. When he couldn’t get it done, he quit. It’s that simple. He left to what he deemed greener pastures and bragged about winning SEVERAL titles without even having so much as had a fucking team practice. He has no concept of hard work, and expects everything to be handed to him. When it’s not, he starts pouting and pointing fingers. We’re 20 games into this season and he’s already done it a couple of times. It will get worse. Biggest jerkoff athlete there is.

What exactly is your proof that Lebron doesn’t know the concept of hard work and he has had everything handed to him? Wilt Chamberlain was far more dominant in his time than Lebron has ever been or will ever be and he only won 2 titles in 14 years. MJ won 6 while being surrounded with talent that Lebron never came close to having. If you want to equate Mo Williams and the ghost of antawn jamison with Dennis Rodman and Scottie Pippen then its clear your dislike for Lebron lacks any sense of logic.

Nobody could have won titles with Lebrons supporting cast. Give me one solitary example of a player who won a title with the piss poor level of talent James had. There’s a difference between quitting and simply realizing that playing with an undersized ragtag group of castoffs will never yield a title. I agree that he is arrogant and ‘‘the decision’’ was pathetic, but leaving was the right thing to do.

I would have preferred Chicago, I’m still not convinced playing with Wade and an overrated softie pretending to be a 4 is better than playing with Rose and Noah on an actual team that has depth and chemistry. After a certain point trying the same thing over and over again becomes pointless and thats what Lebron realized. He waited 7 years, what was he supposed to do? Wait till his career is more than half over and he is no longer able to physically dominate to move?

That supporting cast won 60 games. So “piss poor” is a gross exaggeration. Whether they were built for a championship is debatable as is whether he was built to win a championship. My point is the kid has made some terrible moves…and continues to do so.

Shut the fuck up and play basketball.
WestCoast7 wrote:

I’m not for or against Lebron, but I think given how he has been raised, how he has been treated, how he has been praised, and what his life has been like, that he has turned out better than most.
Please don’t play the “media is not the most reliable resource” card. I’m very well read and it’s not just one article. You can’t ignore article after article explicitly exposing multiple scenarios where this guy has treated people like dirt.

His own USA teammates have seen this abhorrent behavior up close and have called him out on it. He was barking for a ball boy to go fetch him something on the a TEAM USA bus ride and one of his peers told him to get it his damn self.

He’s extremely rude to many. He threw a towel on the floor during a Cavs practice and demanded that one of the Cavs management team to go pick it up. There are many, many other examples.

When he knows he’s in a position of power, he abuses it. And since high school, he’s always been in a position of power.

And I don’t like the “considering how he was raised” card. Well guess what? He’s an adult now. I have had to grow well beyond my “circumstances” and is my responsibility to do so. Don’t act like this guy is a victim of his circumstances and “considering how he was raised” he turned out better than most. Please. You obviously don’t know a lot about this guy because I guarantee you your opinion would change of him.

That being said, he’s 25 and I will admit there’s a possibility that he could see the error his ways still but so far he has shown no ability for self introspection.

LEBRON SUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!

“what should I do? Should I shave my head cause I’m losing my hair? But MJ shaved his head. Should I keep pushing my headband farther and farther back during games to try to cover up my reeceding hairline? What should I do… What should I do?”

First off, no one is talking about Wilt Chamberlain so I don’t know what you’re trying to do there. Second, the Cavs had THE BEST RECORD in the league two years in a row. They clearly had the talent to get it done. Calling them “piss poor” shows you don’t know what you’re talking about. Your examples are absurd and make no sense.

My proof that he doesn’t know what hard work is is by reading what others in the game say about him and by WATCHING him play and listening to what he says. He left Cleveland 'cause he couldn’t get it done and jumped to Miami claimimg they’d win up to 7 titles. Keep in mind he only signed a 6 year deal. That sounds like a guy who assumes that by just rolling the ball out with his new surrounding cast they’ll win, without really having to work for it.
