wow…can’t believe anyone has such a strong opinion about someone they don’t know and about someone who, quite literally, will never affect you life in any way/shape/form…so, if you stopped watching basketball, you wouldn’t give a shit…so, stop watching b-ball and lift…it’s better for your health!

WHAT A FUCKING ASSHOLE.
I mean, come on. Who wants to win championships? Seriously. Why would you want to give yourself a chance at history when you can get knocked out of the first round of the playoffs again?!
You guys are so smart!
It’s funny how you question the intelligence of the OP while making it sound like James was leaving a shitty team to go win a championship. He left a CONTENDING team that WON 60 GAMES TWO STRAIGHT YEARS, where he was the TWO TIME MVP.
And if you think he was the only good player on his team, the fact that the Cavaliers are not last place and may even make the playoffs without him should be enough that even you would know that he didn’t have a shitty team. The only reason they looked like a bad supporting cast while he was there was because he held on to the ball too often in their offense and management/coaching wouldn’t dare tell the MVP to change his playing style to ACTUALLY make his team better even if his assists went down. LBJ was definitely working with a team capable of winning it all.
I don’t need to go into the way he chose to leave, and how many teams he Wade, and Bosh led along while they always knew where they were going-- I’m sure you at least figured that one out.
And seriously, it’s an internet forum. People start threads about small stuff all the time, much worse than this.

I think most of the hate stems from jealousy. The kid is 25, has a multi million dollar empire built around him, has freakish athletic ability, and gets to play ball for a living.
I agree that he has made some bad decisions (pun intended), but overall he has done a pretty damn good job for a 25 year old whose every move is put under a microscope.
He’s well spoken, lives within the law, stays away from drugs, and does a lot for the community. That is a hell of a lot better than the majority of athletes and public figures that fill the media these days.
I’ll take Lebron’s side on this one.
I don’t think it’s jealousy but I agree with the rest of this [despite the impression my previous post makes]. LBJ seems like a good guy overall, there are much worse public figures who get more respect. I’m pretty sure around the league the players all like him, too. You can’t say the same about a guy like Kevin Garnett.
And the excess hate for the guy is as bad as the excess admiration he had last year. I think it’s people overreacting mainly out of disappointment. That and people love a good story. Face it, LeBron in Cleveland was a great story–Cleveland has a terrible history in sports and he looked like the guy who was gonna change it all. Now he’s a great story but as a villain.
I’m disappointed in the guy but I don’t hate him, I’m just not rooting for him like I was last year. He spent his whole career looking for his Pippen, only to find out Pippen was in him all along- no homo. I’m actually not sure if anyone on the Heat have that Garnett-Kobe-MJ type mindset, but if so it’s probably Wade. LBJ and Bosh don’t have it.

I don’t remember ever questioning the Cavalier’s ability to win games, unless I’m missing something. Their supporting cast - Okay. It’s above average. LeBron puts up MVP numbers every season before the playoffs. They get there, no one else can step up and he’s expected to, and simply can’t. Prove otherwise. It makes perfect sense for him to go play ball with a proven champion and a guy who’s status has been drastically overrated this last off-season. Bosh is a 4 who plays more like a 3 but actually ends up being more like a 2 without the skill set. Still not terribly impressed with him.
Either way, there’s at least two other guys that can help take over a game, should the playoffs come. Lots of teams can do well in the regular season but it’s how you show up in the playoffs that decides your worth, and that’s simply fact.

They jelly.
Personally I don’t care what he does. I just can’t help but to view his recent moves as a train wreck coming from a guy that could have had the world eating out of his hand. The Decision. Bad move. Hiring your best friend to run a multi-million dollar corporation with hopes to reach a billion? Bad move. The laser show and dancing in Miami when humility was more in order? Bad move. Quitting last year in playoffs? Bad move. Returning to Cleveland this year and not just shutting up and playing ball? Bad move. The Nike commercial? Ridiculous. Claiming racism was behind all the criticism of the “decision”? Utterly stupid. Where was the racism when you were a media darling?
Want to blame the media? Bullshit. The media crowned him. He just hasn’t lived up to it and they are fairly calling him on it. Believe me, I don’t “care so much”. I played basketball at a high level and I barely, rarely even watch basketball today. I don’t care. I’m commenting on the waste of a public image that could have shitted platinum turds.
He should fire his best friend and hire me. Pay me and I’ll tell him simply, “shut your fucking mouth and play basketball”. If he did that, and won, all will be forgiven. Like I said, MJ had many personal flaws and was still loved, because they handled his image EXPERTLY.

Since Ohio is Canada, this fits.
Edit: Found another hater thread.

I’ll try to explain it again, even though it shouldn’t be so hard for someone to understand. Leaving a contending team for another team IS a disappointing move. It’s quitting. Get it? This year is proof the Cav’s had talent, and the reason the other Cav’s couldn’t step up when LeBron floundered was because the entire offense was set up to let him completely control every possession. That was his choice-- this year he’s on a team that wont do the same thing for him and there is already news about tension between him and the coach. They failed in the playoffs last year because of him. Everyone saw him give up against the Celtics.
Leaving a contending team for another contending team [if you can call the Heat that right now] might be better than leaving for more money on another team, but it’s still a bad show.

Thanks for clarifying, but I don’t remember anyone ever saying James’ move was going to alter the course of their lives or anything. Like I said, people start threads over small shit all of the time, this is one of them. Leave it at that.

Um, no.
As someone who lives in Akron, I can tell you that
A) Many, many people who liked him here now hate him. When I say hate, I mean HATE. The hate is probably strongest here, though. I recommend he stays out of the east side (read: ghetto), because someone there will probably kill him.
And this is because…
B) It doesn’t have to do with jealously in any way shape or form. People feel betrayed, and they’re frustrated that he’s turned out to be such a roaring ego-maniac asshole, and they also feel like he slapped us in the face by drawing it out so long. It wasn’t just like, “K, Imma leave now.” It was like, “Hey, entire freaking world, look over here! I’m LEAVING them! Hahahah, cuz I’m so awesome and they mean nothing to me.” People feel used and tossed aside. Bad taste in their mouth.
You should see all the anti-Lebron signs and crap around here. His city has turned on him the same way he turned on us, that’s for sure.
I just want to say…Fuck all of you
Nah i’m kidding. obviously he didn’t handle the decision well, but he did a good thing in donating 5 million dollars to the boys and girls club (money which was generated by “the decision”).
I am basically from Miami so my opinion shouldn’t even count, but come on…do you see what Cleveland was without him? It was laughable seeing the so called “talent” that Dan Gilbert surrounded him with. I would leave too if i were him. (probably makes me a scumbag lol). And who the hell wants to live in Cleveland or “the mistake by the lake” as people call it. I dunno, he was there 7 years, didnt have any talent on his team (if you dont believe me, see how many games they win this year) and wanted to play with his best friends. Give the guy a break.
Of course people are gonna call him a quitter and shit like that, but i guarantee you nobody else gets the flack that he did if they leave.
In conclusion, Miami rules! (once we get a big man)
<3
You can leave your hometown. You’re a free agent. Fine. Go anywhere. But did you really have to fuck them so that they didn’t receive any value for you in return? You couldn’t orchestrate a sign and trade? He fucked them not by leaving, but by leaving in the manner he did.

Stop crying. He played out his contract. He didn’t use you for anything except winning. He brought insane amounts of money to that area. How did the Cavs reward that? With Jaimason and Shaq? Two tremendously washed up players. Your organization failed to put any respectable players around him. What did you expect?
No logical person would have chosen to stay in Clevland.

Did you read the Yahoo article? There are many articles others out there like it that talk about how poorly he treats people in general; especially people that are in servant roles, on the team, at restaurants, etc. The biggest problem I have with him and others is that he doesn’t treat people very well that are not on his “level”. He is a disgrace with his off-court behavior. That you are saying he’s doing just “fine” all things considered condones this type of assholish behavior.

I haven’t heard that, and if it’s true I would definitely think lesser of him, but the sports media isn’t the most reliable source of accurate information.
I’m not for or against Lebron, but I think given how he has been raised, how he has been treated, how he has been praised, and what his life has been like, that he has turned out better than most.
