Learning to Backtuck

Ya he is right. That is what I said first in the other post. Its oooonnnnn.lol.

I will post a video of me doing a back summersalt. Right now. I will have it today. You post one of those too. If you can.

I will add an extra with some MMA shit. chuck norris kicks and jumping back kicks. Somehand string with one arm and some summersalts just to get you guys waiting and making it more exciting.

Make sure you jump UP, and not BACK.

Swing your arms, swing them up hard, reaching as high up as you can. Don’t keep your arms very bent, you want to be using them to jump as high as possible.

Reach the peak of your jump before you flip. You don’t want to flip too early, you want to stall your jump, and flip at the peak. That’s how people get those super-high floaty tucks.

Tuck tightly. You spin faster the more tucked in you are. That makes it easier to get around, obviously.

They’re not hard at all, especially for anyone the least bit athletic. The video posted by Bloobird is very good, that guy, Jujimufu, while not an actual gymnast, is very talented and knows his stuff.

thanks man, that sounds like some solid advice.

motherfucker “I” posted that video before him.

yeah i checked out his website. some pretty cool stuff

i don’t jsut want to beat him. I want to make this fun. Also To give you advice. When you do it do NOT DO NOT Stop. I did that once and I fucked up my face.

Fixed.

You might try: http://gymnasticbodies.com/home.html

Edit: oops I was talking about handsprings, not semis. My bad! Disregard what I said.

Back tucks are easy, I’ve seen 250# out of shape guys do it so you can.

Check the backflip tutorial on www.trickstutorials.com. Then, watch a lot of backflip videos on youtube (proper ones) and analyze the technique. You wont have the time to thing during your first few backflip so know the technique !

  • Remember to jump UP. Not backward…UP! Your center of rotation should easily be your shoulder height.

  • When you tuck, because you will have to, raise your knees to your chest as fast as possible, do not “lean” forward to grab them.

  • Get a spotter. That person will have to stand on your side. Let’s say he’s on the left side of you : his right hand is ready to go on your lower back, and his left is lower. His right hand will help with your height as it will support a bit of your weight and the left hand your “spin” your legs around, for the rotation.

Well, I’ll keep it there…watch the tutorial and post your attempts, I’ll give you feedback.

btw, I’ve got a couple of years of tricking and gymnastic under my belt, I know what I’m talking about

I never really had access to a trampoline so I taught myself poolside when I was in college. It probably wasn’t the best way to learn, because I now have a tendency to jump back to far. Making sure to avoid the side of the pool with your head will do that to you.

I didn’t really have to do anything special, I think strength training in general is what got me over the edge (I was probably pretty close well before I did it, I just didn’t have the balls to do it on dry ground.)

A couple things that I did notice that are very important is to make sure you are flexible and make sure to keep up with your ab training. I remember the first time I did it on dry ground, I ended up doing it a dozen times or so. My abs were sorer than they have ever been that next day.

i think the best thing is to start with a running start and a powerful roundoff to punch you into a good burst for a backtuck.

but you want to do a standing one so that’s differant. i’d start on a tampoine first too to get the feeling if you’ve never done it and someone who knows how to spot you correctly is very important.

and DON’ STOP either, i too did this, jsut commit and finish the movement. drive down hard with your legs, push up and commit.
