Leaning up w/, gasp, Carbs

Hello T-forumites. As of Late I’ve switched to predominantly protein/carb meals throughout the day, as I haven’t been satisfied with my bodyfat loss on a mainly P+F diet. To my amazement, this experiment has been extrodinarily successful, I’m leaner than ever on about 100 carbs per non-workout day (while doing HST) and about 130-150 on training days. Granted my summer job has me more active, but I certainly would not categorized the work as heavy labor. Anyone else have this type of experience? Take care. Lata.

MBE: I’ve been holding out on answering this, I didn’t want to be the first person again to answer your question! Didn’t want to look like a “Primate Groupy” or somethin’.

Oh well - here goes: What is occuring to you is not all that amazing, especially if you're already lean. I'm assuming that you do stay pretty lean, right? What's happening to you is what I went through when I was began my "lean phase" some years ago. I found out that I performed better and retained LBM much better when upping my carb intake. When I need to get leaner for contests, there is no need for me to make drastic cuts to my carb intake - just doing something like eating the brunt of my carbs earlier in the day can get me contest ready quickly.

Oh and while you may think that the additional activity level is not "heavy labor" and shouldn't make that much of a difference. I beg to differ. Again, if you're relatively lean already, any type of extra activity will make a difference.

I’ve found the same thing. When I lean down, I like to take in my weight in carbs on non-workout days, and around three times my weight in carbs on workout days. This system works really well for me, because I need to have carbs to function right.
