LBJ or MLK

Hillary got into hot water for giving some of the cred for civil rights to President Johnson. This was taken by some as a swipe at ‘Dr.’ King. Who do you guys think did more for black people, MLK or LBJ?

Now ‘Dr.’ King, of course, has been shown to have plagarized a lot of his doctoral dissertation. He also cheated on his wife A LOT. A former assistant director of the FBI alleged that ‘Dr.’ King would beat white prostitutes while screaming, “I’m fucking for Jay-sus!!” which seems kind of wierd but …wtf…

LBJ was no idealist or upright individual but it was HE who signed the legislation.

Thoughts? (Oh, and I don’t mind the day off on Monday.)

Or maybe it was some other guy???

…It can’t be a combination of both? Why must it be one or the other? Without either of them, the Civil Rights movement may have taken much longer.

Lincoln

As zap sort of put it there, they are both pieces of a much larger machine. LBJ was an enabler, doing his job as a politician. MLK was a black guy with great oratory skill. MLK rallied people, LBJ represented their wishes (and did what he thought was probably best for the country at the time). They worked in two very different ways and saying who did more is kinda comparing apples and oranges. LBJ did his job. MLK pursued his passion. I think they both did good.

BTW, isn’t that malcom x?

What’s King’s doctoral dissertation or promiscuous sex life have anything to do with his activism?

Yup. I like the guy; he had real balls. IMO, he was waaaaayyyyy smarter than MLK. He realized that welfare and AFDC was simply a scam by the white man to make black people into a dependent class.

What in the fuck did this post have to do with this thread?

Lizy made a valuable point. Plenty of great men do shitty things. Ben Franklin barely ever woke up before noon and loved Hookers. Was he an evil lazy sumbitch?

Didn’t he also support segregation?

I don’t have a hidden agenda like your boyfriend does, I just enjoy following Lixy’s post trail and talking shit about how worthless he is. Thats the difference.
