What do you guy usually do for late night snacks or meals. I read a few articles that said beef jerky is a good snack. Is protein shakes ok? I’m asking becasue it seems that have trouble meeting my calorie and protein needs (go figure), I’m on t-dawg 2.0. Thank You
It depends on how hungry I am. If I feel like I do not actually want to eat I will have a mixture of protein, flax oil or a 3,6,9 omega blend and some fiber with water a few minutes before sleep. if I am actually hungry I will usually eat some meat, whole eggs, tuna and olive oil, and mixed raw nuts (but no cashews b/c high carbs). I have been eating about ten minutes prior to bed for a couple years now and I find it almost impossible to sleep on an empty stomach now.
I buy the family pack of chicken thighs (boneless, if possible), boil them on Sunday, put them in individual ziploc baggies, and throw them in the fridge.
I throw a couple into my lunch bag for snacks during the day, and have one (30 seconds in the microwave) at bedtime.
Any P+F combination is probably cool, especially if you’re not meeting your calorie/macro breakdowns for the day.
I like the idea of cooking ahead of time, TShaw. Whenever I cook a chicken breast or whatever, I’ll cook up extras. Same with veggies. That way, when I need to get a quick meal, I toss 'em in the microwave and I’m good to go.
Protein shakes are probably cool as long as they’re not the MRP-candy shakes that are like protein + maltodextrin. Get a high protein, low carb protein like isopure or Low-carb Grow! and have some fat with it. I like to mix a little peanut butter in with the chocolate ones (just a little… there can be a lot of carbs, so be careful). Shotgun some flax, and you’re good to go.
