Larodrick Duncan Squats 825 Unequipped

It is wonderful how people always get defensive about depth. Matter of fact is that the video was shopwing a very strong man, that is likely to get even stronger. Personally I appreciate squats done to proper depth.

These squats are in my opinion perfect squats:

Granted. But the point it to lift heavy rather than to lift perfect.

Calling an oly lifter’s back squat a “perfect” squat in a thread about a guy who is obviously training like a powerlifter is like posting a video of a pitcher in the MLB when the topic is softball.

I don’t have anything to add, I’m just quoting so you squat-nazis will read it again.

Whatever happened to posting a video so other people could just appreciate it?

Honestly, who gives a crap about depth… it was a squat higher then proly anyone here (if not post up a vid or shut up). it was deep (not a bs half squat) and its not a strong man walk so stfu…

mad props to that guy for doing something I will never be able to do…

I dunno, but I thought the implied analogy was funny.

Olympic Weight Lifting is to Major League Baseball as
Power Lifting is to Softball

A vid of a large squat was posted, and was then said to be very deep or words to that effect. Some, including myself, pointed out the fact that it was not ‘very’ deep at all. In fact it may not have even broken parallel. So whats all the fuss about again?

I also don’t see anyone saying anything other than that guy is very very strong. Rather everyone has given plenty of respect to a very strong guy. So again what’s the fuss? There is non.

The sqaut was;

a) Very heavy
b) A very good gym lift
c) Not buried or very deep

These look pretty fuckin’ deep:

They’re not really… they’re certainly below parallel imo, but the actual depth as measured by hips to knees isn’t MEGA deep. It’s enough tho!!

I think the perception is skewed because leaning he’s sooooo far forward.

I didnt say it was buried, I didnt say it was USAPL deep. I said I was surprised at the depth. If you expect to see legal depth from every gym training video that you click on, you have a brighter view of most lifts done in gyms than I do.

That being said, when people right things like “In fact it may not have even broken parallel” I am shocked and appalled, and I express said shock and appall (not even sure thats a word).

I guess it’s all relative, ‘cause a RAW set of 7 with 700lbs to parallel is really fuckin’ deep to me.

I could take a single rep way deeper.

Does it matter if I don’t come back up?

It does to your spotters.

Curious how many of the haters could even walk out that much? Better yet 1/8 squat it?..

His squat will pass in most federations except IPF…If you look at all the heavy weight classes in most federations the squats are not even close to being parallel…With a canvas suit he can easily do 1200 plus…He is very impressive

A canvas suit will easily put 400+ pounds on your squat? Sweet!! I’ve gotta get me one of them there cheater suits so I can squat 600+.

Wonder what fed he is planning to break the record in? Wonder if he has done a meet before? I would hate to see the guy do all that work for red lights and then have to go back to the drawing board.

He would need train with gear for at least a year before he really got much out of it. With his style the gear would probably just launch him into the head judges lap.

Actually, now that you mention it, the analogy seems pretty accurate. Oly weightlifting and baseball are both boring, televised, and “drug free”. Softball and powerlifting are fun, get little media recognition, and you get to drink beer.

I know what fed it won’t be in, NASA. He got kicked out of a meet in arguing about his deadlifts. The problem actually started with his bench, cause he couldn’t keep his feet flat (he has short legs and neither he nor his coach knew he could use a block for his feet). He could possibly go to SPF, they have meets around here. It just depends on how far he’s willing to travel.

Whoa, shit. Is that the Ginny, the Frantz or the Leviathan? I’m good for 600 raw maybe a wee more. So what’s that- 950-1000 in this magic canvas suit.

ya dude. My grandma just hit a bodyweight leg press, and she’s ALREADY squatting over 400 in her suit. It’s all that gear doing work ya know

he probably wouldnt get much weight out of a suit. They aren’t designed for belly-bounce good mornings
