it’s really long lasting… like 18-24 hrs. my wife takes it, but she’s a type 1 diabetic.
weird…my cat is diabetic and this is the insulin vets are currently using for cats as it has shown 70%+ remission rates. it’s incredibly expensive without a prescription, I can tell you that first hand…
it seems to me the preference for insulin use for “bodybuilding” would be for a fast-acting insulin, that peaks and clears your system within a couple hours, not this ~20+ hr active stuff.

Lol well your wrong. With lantus you are shuttling nutrients all day. This is widely used in bodybuilding along with short acting insulin

I’m taking you off topic here- but is this something available in a UGL? cuz sooner or later I’m going to have to buy this cat some more insulin as it doesn’t seem he’s going to go into remission. I’m not paying ~$280 I paid the first time, I just figured I would need to talk to the vet and put him on some other generic insulin. it’s my understanding this Lantus shit is so expensive because there’s a patent on it, that’s actually due to run out soon.

my cat is diabetic too, and we’re able to use some of my wife’s insulin. we’ve recently switched the dosing to twice a day, due to faster cat metabolism…
you could prolly get a cheaper kind and administer it multiple times to the cat… some animals tolerate that better than others, i guess…

It can. I believe its usually run for 2 to 4 weeks for the most part.

Oh i havent ran it yet, or metamorphin. I just started with humalog pre workout only about a month ago though.

I googled after you informed me I was wrong yesterday and found some interesting information about the Lantus and bodybuilding. I’ve only done light reading on the subject before, because it’s not something that interests me at the moment, and I have a lot of room for improvement before anything like that would be worthwhile for me (I think).
Anyhow- in the little bit that I read before I was under the impression that the fast acting insulin was preferred to really shuttle the peri or post WO carbs, and that you wouldn’t necessarily want long lasting stuff because you’d really have to be tight with diet to not gain fat- BUT I guess that’s also kind of the point, people using stuff like this should already be tight with their diet. I also thought the apparent increase in IGF specifically with Lantus over other forms of insulin was interesting. And, as it applies to my fucking diabetic cat, I found some tips on where to get this stuff cheaper, including CL, so thanks for that.

I will probably consult with vet about whether or not a cheaper form of insulin can be used if I can’t source (much) cheaper Lantus. It’s my feeling that if my cat isn’t going to go in remission and will require insulin the rest of his life, there’s no reason for me to pay top dollar for the brand/form that’s touted as being able to get them into remission. As I understand it, if they’re going to go I to remission it will be in the first month or two of use.

I was actually surprised to see this here as I obviously didn’t realize it’s bodybuilding use. much like I was surprised to see “human insulin” printed on the bottle of Lantus when I originally got it home, believing that it was insulin specifically formulated for cats (perhaps the vet thinks this, because that’s essentially what he represented to me).
