TWENTY FOUR?!? HOLY SHIT.
Well, congratulations, Lanky!!!
I’m happy for you!
Why is that so surprising to you?
I also find 24 a bit young to be having a child, but that’s just my personal feelings on the matter. Either way, grats Lanky.
In previous generations it was normal to have kids at 24 or younger. With the current crop of adults, things like abortion and birth control are more prevalent because no one wants to commit to anything long term (just my opinion). So, yeah, these days 24 is considered young.
Either way, thanks for the good wishes. We’ve got a good support group around us and we’re two people who are emotionally, physically and financially capable of raising a child. We’re excited. ;)[/quote]
…Oh my god… They’re… Breeding!… We’re doomed!
Jk brother, I’m happy for you! All the best to you and your (soon-to-grow) family!
Hell, if you can support the family etc/have your business/work situation right and all that, then I think the sooner you get your kids the better (unless, perhaps, you’re a serial killer masquerading as a blood spatter analyst)… Less of a generation gap between you and your child(ren) when it’s(their) puberty starts… And you’ll be able to support them longer if need be, etc (important what with today’s rather not-so-stable economy, work situation and whatnot).
One of my trainees mom got him with 40+… His dad is 5-6 years older than his mother.
He himself is 23 now (or so), and there just doesn’t seem to be any understanding happening between those three… Parents are of the Just-past-WW2 Generation of Eastern Germans and all they ever knew was work and the “traditional” roles men and women had to fit in… They have zero hobbies or even depth of character from what I can tell, they’re like demo-versions or something. Large parts are just missing (that being said, I only know them as one knows everyone in a small town/village-thing and from what my trainee and others tell me).
And now they’re both retired, so supporting their son is difficult for them… The situation (finding work/getting into a uni) here isn’t exactly great anymore, so that’s a real issue. Plenty of teenagers and young adults going down the drain due to such problems.
