Lamar Gant 5x BW DL

This was mentioned in the deadlift vs bodyweight thread.

Someone claimed a 90 year old man pulled 661 @ 132. Later someone claimed that man was Lamar Gant.

Anyone got a link to a video or photo?

90 Y/O man pull 661???

I have a bridge for sale, cheap.

Especially at 132lbs.

How much for the bridge?

I am not sure how old Lamar is, but I remember him competing in the 70’s.

If he was 60 at the time, he looked pretty good for his age.

If I had to guess, I would put him in his 50’s or 60’s now.

The Google wonders why you don’t like it.

Damn, I was kind of proud of my 2X’s BW deadlift…

Lamar pulled 310kg @ 60kg. He was 31 at the time.

Would that have been in the 90’s???

I guess I can eat my words.

“In 1985, he became the first man to deadlift five times his own bodyweight, lifting 661 lbs at a bodyweight of 132 lbs. For this, he has been included the Guinness Book of Records. He currently holds the world records for deadlifting in both the 123 and 132 lb weight classes.”

He’s not 90, but that is insane.

Late 80’s. Coulda been 87/88. It’s still an IPF world record. Have a look for it.

So I’m guessing you’ve taken the bridge off the market?

If I’m not mistaken, I believe he has severe scoliosis also. Which makes it that much more impressive.

Yes, he does have scoliosis along with very long arms. The bar was at knee level at the top of his pulls in the pics I’ve seen.

Wow, his hands really are literally at his knees.

Google him for images and you’ll find some pics of him benching as well.

lol, check out this link to physics in action, apparently they don’t know what a deadlift is:
“The force exerted to lift the 661 lb. bar is 3004.55 Newtons. To learn the amount of work it took him to lift the bar, I had to estimate a displacement of six feet. This is the total distance from the ground to the point where the bar is being lifted over his head.”
