Without a doubt, laddder theory has some inkling of truth. Human behavior is so complex that it’s ridiculously hard to come up with a statement that’s completely wrong.
But by the same token, nothing that simple can even come close to describing the way we act. It’s incomplete.

Many aspects of the theory hold true, but there are exceptions. Only one girl has ever tried to make me her cuddle bitch, and I promptly let her know that I wasn’t that guy. Some time passed, but she came back to me, and I made the jump to the other ladder. She was well worth the wait, and we’re closer than ever.
So I guess that kinda makes me take the ladder theory with a grain of salt.
Brilliant. As I read it I found so many things that I already knew but had never actually considered. It’s amazing how the theory fits with conventional wisdom and even natural selection.
I thought it was a well developed and well articulated theory except for the tendency to refer to women as bitches etc. Some are and some aren’t and they can comply with the theory without being a bitch.

I’d estimate the basic premise of the theory to be something like 80-90% true. Sadly.

Can’t we have sex with women and yet still be just friends? I think this is possible. It actually happened to me. I had sex with a friend of mine, she was actually my best friend at the time. Yes I was attracted to her, but she was in a relationship with a woman. You heard correct. However, her partner didn’t mind her fucking me. I remember the first time I had sex with her, while I was “in” her she was saying with a satisfied smile on her face, “I love fucking my friends”. Does this go against the ladder theory because she was dating another woman?
