L.A. Fitness Story

I have been going here ever since I have gotten back into training. It is the epicenter dumbass. It is a combination of highschool kids socializing, muscleheads with small legs and some milfs. Basically though I do mostly basic shit, squat, bench, deadlift, rows, pullups, curls, dips.

This place though…it is common gym routine for people to curl in the squat rack. Like…they think thats what its for…i know this is played out but, the problem is, it’s not only the weaklings, but the swole dudes who do this. It bothers me to see a larger than normal guy curling in the squat rack…or doing some dumbass exercise, it makes me really wonder how they got to that size.

Here is a common example of the shit I deal with here: Me and my friend are training legs, we goto the squat rack to do squats. These two regular musclehead juice buddies are training arms. We just start doing squats and he asks us…you guys using this, I responded politely yea man sorry. He says nothing, gives me a look and walks away, and his partner is like well lets just do them in the power rack (not joking).

So they start…about 3 sets in he comes back over to the rack and says you still on it and I said yea, misunderstands me and starts to take the weights off, so my partner is like no no man we are still on it. The guy gives him a fuckin look says nothing and walks back to his partner.

I’m about to start my set and I overhear him and his partner talking about us. His partner is like oh they are still on that, and the arrogant asshole that gave me the look is like yea they are fuckin retards. I restrained myself from saying anything as I know it was not worth it but…I’m almost upset that I didn’t.

I should have said wait wait, we are the retards for doing squats in a squat rack meanwhile you are upset because you want me to stop doing them so you can use it to curl? Of course I didn’t say shit. But it got more amusing as they started spotting eachother on curls.

The part that bothers me the most is…they do this type of stupid shit all the time, yet they are far bigger than I…it makes me feel as though it just wouldn’t register to them that I’m right because I’m not as big…My revenge will be years to come, when their genetics and juice run out and my knowledge and juice takes over.

LA Fitness plans to take over Suburbia as the gym of choice. Nearly all of their locations are in established / up and coming suburbs.

Because of this, you will get lots of teens (everybody starts somewhere), slap dicks and milfs.

My experience has been that LA Fitness has excellent equipment and lots of it at each facility.

Take advantage of the equipment and the Milfs. Many of them are unhappily married to the slap dicks and you’d be suprised how many married women go for younger, in shape guys.

Or divorced women who retained the house, have zero self esteem, want a fresh start on being 20 again and will slut out like a school girl for a cheerleader spot when they find somebody that makes them feel like they can.

They sound to stupid and ignorant to understand what you are saying anyways. Just leave it alone.

Damn musclehead juice buddies, always raining on peoples parades.

Don’t worry, take pride in the fact that you’re obviously much better at training than these guys, even though they’re much bigger than you.

re: “muscleheads”

Is that pejoritive?

Why complain on a website who’s tag line is “The Intelligent and Relentless Pursuit of Muscle” about ‘muscleheads’ regardless of whether they were curling in the squat rack or not.

Were they big? Maybe curling in the squat rack works… I’m just sayin.

Who cares how big they were? The point is that they acted like assholes towards this kid.

Muscular or not, there certainly is nothing admirable about an obnoxious shithead…

C’mon-- I’m not defending the dickery, but for a guy to come here whining about big, bad, ‘musclehead juice buddies’ seems a bit queeah (heavy N.E. accent).

was there a way they could have worked in with you?

and… please tell me you know they are juiceheads and aren’t just saying that because they are bigger than you! ;>

it does seem odd that you had to tell them so many times though

and musclehead is a good thing

I’m surprised that the guy’s been here since '05. It sounds more like a post made by an angry high-schooler.

agreed.

I meet assholes everyday, but I don’t come to T-Nation to complain about them.

Pejorative? Uh, no, that would be ‘English’, dudes. You might do well to use a dictionary. (although I did spell it wrong the first time).

No maybe’s about it.Squat rack curls DO WORK.

The big Juice boys pay their membership just like u.They should be able to use whatever they want without u geting all pissy about it.

But if they had a bad attitude then i can see where u are coming from.Just leave it alone or u could end up getting a beating.

Maybe u should have said to them ,do what i do like squats, deads etc and they will be your size.

Lol. Good one. You tell’em.

I forgot about this post so I’ll rez it from the dead. I didn’t come on here so much to complain as much as I wanted to just share a funny circumstance of gym ignorance, arrogance and the like. Sure they paid their memberships just as I do, and they can use whatever equipment they want, so if they want to use the squat rack to curl…so be it.

But to clear a few things up. I have been coming here since 2005, but I took an almost 2 year lay off due to A)losing interest B) Becoming consumed by a relationship C) getting into a car accident. I do regret the lay off. When I came back, I was more interested in gaining strength at a lower weight, in which I feel I made major progress in a matter of months. Are those two guys bigger than me? Yes, no doubt by a long shot.

It is sad though that at 165lbs I can squat and deadlift more than either. As far as them being juiced, thye are without a doubt juiced as I overhear there very loud conversations about dosage protocol and substance protocol. As far as squat rack curls working, all curls work…there is no reason to have to rack the wait after each set…you can easily put the bar on the floor…that just seems like any last ditch effort to avoid any movement that resembles a deadlift.

This site likes to agree with the vets and large guys just for the sake of licking nuts…but when a average looking guy like myself makes the exact same points as the previous, I’m ridiculed and called a highschool kid, as if size is a license to publicly complain on a forum and get nut licked for it. I hope you guys enjoyed the story, and I figured it would be something most could relate to, as there is a thread called squat rack curls, and another thread about gym diseases.

Your post would have been better placed in one of those pre-existing threads.

And you are a bitch for quitting the gym over a relationship.

It was a combination of things, but if I’m a bitch to you, then I’m a bitch to you. It was the first serious relationship I was in, I had an injury in the gym, I had just started college, I gradually became less interested, and then a car decently serious car accident cemented the notion of me not going.
