It’s frustrating because I should be pulling more both raw and geared. My technique just isn’t where it needs to be yet.
Frustrating is a accurate adjective for sumo deadlifts.

So back in my previous life (about 35lbs and a few years ago) I was a fairly competitive golfer. I dont get to play much anymore with college and what not (maybe 3-4 times last year), but I went to the range this afternoon since it was nice out and to see how my swing has been affected by the 20lbs or so I’ve gained since the last time I played. I was always worried about lifting and “getting big” in high school and being afraid it would affect my swing. I was completely wrong. Other than taking a little while to warm-up, which would be no surprise anyways for the first time out, my swing was not affected in any way. If anything, it felt tighter and much more solid. I’m pretty sure I was hitting it farther too. Maybe I can convince my golfer buddies to squat now haha.

Next meet on the horizon is the UPA Iron Battle on the Mississippi in july, about 18 1/2 weeks away. Bodyweight plan right now is to keep gaining as much as possible lol. I’d like to make it above 210 and not cut down to 198, but hopefully I can make it to 220. For lower body training right now I’m going to push my good morning using various bars and chains.
I’m so bad at them I honestly feel like if I can bring it up it could potentially give me another 50-100lbs on my squat and dead pretty easily. Bench training I’m not real sure on right now, other than triceps, triceps, and more triceps. I have no idea how my progress is going to be over this training cycle, but here are some rough goals for the meet:
Squat: 530
Bench: 275
Deadlift: 645
Total: 1450
Lofty, but I think it can happen.

Great session. Smashed some PR’s and got a lot of work in. First time floor pressing with a regular bar but my fat bar PR was 230 so I kinda smoked that. One of my training partners, Crom, made a some great observations watching my form which were definitely the reason I hit 275. Essentially I wasn’t keeping my shoulders pulled back as I was pressing. I have some vids I’ll put up were it’s painfully obvious.
